2019 / 2020 Orlando Crowd Calendar – Walt Disney World

2018 Orlando Crowd Calendar - Walt Disney World

With over 20 million visitors visiting the wonderful Walt Disney World each year there is no surprise that crowding becomes an issue. While many people will go in the school holidays, that only allocates a small percentage of the year. Not to mention that everyone in the world has different holidays, time off and different school calendars. With that in mind here is the 2018 Orlando Crowd Calendar.

Key

Easy – No waiting for most lines

Moderate – Short waiting times for most lines, 30 minutes for big rides.

Heavy – 30 minutes wait on all rides, 1-2 hours on big rides and arrive 30 minutes prior to shows.

Busy – 1 hour + wait for rides, 1-2 hours on big rides and 30 min+ for fast food.

Crazy – There are people everywhere, long waits for all rides and only standing room available for shows and a long wait for fast food and toilets.

No Chance – Too many people around there is no chance of moving.

January

While January for many is a time to recover from the Christmas hype and get back into a routine for work and school. There are still some dates that are due to be busy. For instance the dates following new year the 1st to the 3rd of January. Going into the 3rd and 4th are heavy days but then from the 6th to the 31st is easy to moderate with the exception of the 14th being a heavy day.

There is the Epcot International Festival of the Arts running from the 12th January to 19th February which may cause some busy spells during that time period.

Weather :

The weather in January is warm but not humid making it a great time to visit the parks. It is also quite quiet as lots of people are working and are at school. The highs expected in January are 21?C (71?F) and lows of 9?C (47?F). January similar to December is to expect 7 hours of sunshine a day and with only a slight chance of rain it makes a great winter get away.

February

Februarys 2018 Orlando Crowd Calendar month starts with the 1st, 2nd and the 5th to the 8th being easy days. Whereas the 3rd and 4th are heavy days this is due to it being a weekend, that and on the 4th the Super Bowl is happening and there are plenty of places to catch the game. From the 9th to the 15th these dates are easy to moderate. They are the middle of the month which makes it a calmer time to go as more people visit at the beginning or end.

The 16th and the 17th again are heavy due to it being a weekend and the weekend before Presidents Day. While Presidents day is generally only celebrated on that one day, Disney celebrates for the week.

The 18th and 19th are busy days due to Presidents Day, following from the 20th to the 22nd are heavy. From the 22nd to the 25th sees the Princess Half Marathon that takes places at Epcot, this can cause some traffic but will still be moderate until the 23rd to the 28th.

The 28th of February will also see the start of many different exhibits, festivals and shows called the Special Spring Event lasting until the 28th May.

Remember for UK residents that there is a February half term that is from the 12th to the 23rd, depending on your area. These may affect the 2018 Orlando Crowd Calendar or holiday prices.

Weather :

As we move further into the year it increasingly gets a little warmer, February is wuite similar to January in terms of low humidity and warm temperates. With highs of 23?C (7?3?F) and lows of 11?C (52?F) makes for a great time to visit the parks.

March

Looking into the 2018 Orlando Crowd Calender for March this is really the start of the Special Spring Event at Epcot. This last all the way through to the 28th of May, making it a great time to visit, with longer days and not so much harsh sun.

The start of the month is moderate to heavy with the 1st and 2nd being moderate whereas the weekend on the 3rd of 5th appears to be heavy dates. Following on the 6th to 10th are back to moderate before the storm of spring break.

Spring Break generally happens from the 11th of March until the 7th April. This increases the crowds into the heavy again and certain dates into the busy period. The heavy dates are from the 11th to the 30th not including the 24th, 26th or 27th and 31st which are busy dates.

During the month of March there is also the Special Spring event that will bring Epcot International Flower and Garden Festival, Epcots Easter Egg Egg-stravaganza and St.Patricks Day. These particular dates are yet to be confirmed.

Remember for UK residents that the Easter Holidays are from the 26th March to 13th April, depending on your local area. These may cause some increase in the 2018 Orlando Crowd Calender and in holiday prices.

Weather :

March brings the start of spring and so the weather and temperatures start to warm up with highs of 25?C (78?F) it is great to be at the parks then. There are the lows of 12?C (54?F) but compared to British weather it is still great. Expect to have around 9 sunshine hours a day and some slight showers, though out of the rainy season so the clouds should clear up pretty quickly.

Park Opening Hours :

Magic Kingdom – 9am – 10pm

Animals Kingdom – 9am – 8pm

Hollywood Studios – 9am – 8.30pm

Epcot – 9am – 9pm

April

April starts of in the busy period due to the remains of people on Spring Break. This lasts until the 4th. Then the month starts to change back into heavy with the exception of the 8th which is a busy day. The busy time can also reflect from UK holiday makers using the easter holidays from the 26th March to the 13th April to grab a week in Orlando. From the 12th to the 16th the crowd calender calms down to moderate and then into easy on the 17th until the 20th.

The rest of the month from the 21st until the 30th is moderate with the exception of the 24th and 25th which are heavy. Though I can’t find anything too specific on the calendar as to why for those particular dates.

Weather :

April is the beginning of the increased weather and is hot and sunny. The daily temperature increases up to 28?C (83?F) and you can expect lows of 15?C (53?F). There is an average of 10 sunshine hours per day meaning you can fit more into your days. There also should be very little rain with approximately 61mm.

Park Opening Hours :

Animals Kingdom – 9am – 8pm

Hollywood Studios – 9am – 9.30pm

May

May is a pretty moderate month starting with the 1st and 2nd in moderate crowds. The following dates from the 3rd to the 17th are showing easy with the exception of the 12th and 13th which are moderate. These are due to it being a weekend for those local pass holders.

Again the 18th to the 20th is showing moderate on the 2018 Orlando Crowd Calendar. Going from the 21st to the 24th showing as heavy. This can be due to the end of the Special Spring Event at Epcot and the Memorial Day Weekend on the 26th. The 31st is showing heavy.

The UK may half term also takes place from the 28th May until the 1st June.

Gay Days happen from the 29th of may until the 3rd of June, these are not organised by Disney in anyway but is a worldwide gathering.

Weather :

May is a hot and humid month with average high temperatures of 31?C (88?F) and lows of 18?C (65?F). This weather will require light clothing and should expect to see 10 hours of sunshine per day. The end of May is actually the start of rainy season so come prepared with a poncho.

Park Opening Hours :

Magic Kingdom – 9am – 10pm

Animals Kingdom – 9am – 8pm

Hollywood Studios – 9am – 9.30pm

June

June again is showing an overall moderate month for the 2018 Orlando Crowd Calendar. From the 1st to the 11th are moderate crowds except for the 3rd, 4th and 5th which are showing as easy. The 12th of June is a heavy date, though after checking through dates and events, I can’t seem to see why.

From the 13th to the 27th are moderate crowd days with the exception of the 16th and 17th which are easy and the 24th that is heavy. Then on from the 25th to the 27th are moderate again and the 28th to the 30th is heavy.

This is the start of Epcot’s Sounds Like Summer Concert Series starts – details and dates are yet to be confirmed.

July

The 2018 Orlando Crown Calender starts to pick up now for the summer /holiday season in place. The majority of the month is heavy, starting with the 1st to the 8th as moderate with the exception of the 4th as heavy due to Independence day. If looking to celebrate and watch the fireworks but don’t want the crowds, try heading to Hollywood studios who also put on fireworks. From the 9th to the 28th the crowd calendar continues to be heavy

With the end of the month from the 29th to the 31st back to moderate.

From 16th July to 5th September is the UK Summer holidays, which will create a peak in visitors from the UK to Walt Disney World. That is a small fraction of the world to consider.

Magic Hours during this month aren’t as useful as they are for the rest of the year, try planning your time so you don’t get up too early.

Weather :

Another month of hot, humid and wet weather. July reaches highs of 33?C (92?F) and lows of 23?C (73?F), this is also peak holiday time for families so expect to see lots of people and queue. The sunshine hours fall down to 10 hours a day and rain is expected to make an appearance on roughly 21 days of the month.

August

August is a quieter month after the mass of holidaymakers in July, making up mostly moderate days on the 2018 Orlando Crowd Calendar. With the 1st to the 16th are moderate days with the exception of the 3rd to the 5th being heavy days, this is purely due to the weekend. Onwards from the 17th to the 27th are back to easy days with the exception of 21st and 22nd which are moderate days. Though I can’t find anything on the agenda for those days to explain the influx.

The rest of the month from the 28th to the 31st is back to moderate days. Though this is a much calmer month to July, there is still holidaymakers around and the parks can still be very busy. Try making the most of your time and book in for character meals as soon as you can.

Weather :

The humidity reaches a peak in August and many can?t stay out in the hot weather. This mostly occurs in the afternoon. August sees high temperatures of 33?C (92?F) and lows of 23?C (73?F). There is expected around 9 sunshine hours per day and 95% humidity with high chances of rain. It is rainy season and also hurricane season peaks in August.

September

September is quite a boring month in terms of shows and events at Walt Disney World. I can confirm that Mickey’s Not So Scary Halloween Party is on from the 17th August to October 31st. We can say for now that September is going to be the calm before the festive storm.

Starting with the first weekend in September is to be heavy on the 1st and 2nd. The 3rd of September is to be moderate and the remaining holidayers are flying back home. The rest of the month from 4th to the 28th are easy crowd days with the exception of the 15th, 16th, 22nd and 23rd. These dates are busier bringing them to moderate as they are weekends. Ending the month on the 29th and 30th as moderate days as they are also a weekend.

Animals Kingdom – 9am – 8pm

October

Looking through the 2018 Orlando Crowd Calendar I expected October to be quieter than it is. October is the month we see the Halloween decorations come out and the park transforms. Starting with the 1st to the 5th is moderate. Leading into the 6th to the 11th as heavy with the pull of the Halloween theme pulling in regular visitors. The 12th and 13th are busy days due to being a Friday and Saturday for local pass holders.

Following on the 14th to the 19th is back to heavy after the weekend gone, though it spikes again on the 20th being busy. The 21st to the 25th is back to moderate and then goes back into heavy over the 26th to the 28th. Then at the end of the month, the 29th to the 31st is back to moderate.

During the month of October will see visitors going to Mickey’s Not-so-scary Halloween party as well as the Epcot’s International Food and Wine Festival. Both of these events are yet to release the dates and tickets.

Weather :

The weather is starting to cool in September so October is a much more bearable time to visit with highs of 29?C (about 84?F) and lows of 18?C (about 65?F). There are an average of 8 sunshine hours in the day and has roughly 12 days of rain. It also isn?t in hurricane and rain season that is a bonus of visiting then.

Park Opening Hours :

Magic Kingdom – 9am – 9pm

Animals Kingdom – 9am – 8pm

Hollywood Studios – 9am – 8pm

Epcot – 9am – 9pm

November

November is the start of the festive season, saying goodbye to Halloween and hello to Thanks Giving. The start of the month is easy on the 1st and 2nd leading into the 3rd to the 12th as moderate, excluding the 5th,6th and 7th as heavy days. The 13th to the 16th is back to easy days and following on are 17th to the 20th ad heavy days. From the 21st until the 24th are busy days, this is due to this being the busiest week of the year in Disney terms. The 25th sees a dramatic drop back down to moderate. Then another drop down from the 26th to the 30th are easy days.

November so far as I know has Thanksgiving event happening, as well as heading into the festive season with Mickey’s Very Merry Christmas Party on the 8th, 9th, 12th, 14th, 16th, 17th, 26th, 28th. Weather :

The weather again is much cooler and but is popular with people escaping the cold of their own home. With temperatures reaching highs of 25?C (78?F) and lows of 14?C (57?F). The humidity drops at this time of year making walking around the park much easier. There is an average of 8 sunshine hours a day and chances of rain are at the lowest.

Park Opening Hours:

Magic Kingdom – 9am – 10pm

Animals Kingdom – 9am – 8pm

Hollywood Studios – 9am – 9pm

Epcot – 9am – 9pm

December

Within December the 2018 Orlando Crowd Calendar ranges from easy to No Chance at the end of the month. With December being a very desirable time of year to go away, Walt Disney World is no exception.  With the start of the month on the 1st and 2nd easy crowd days, turning to moderate on the 3rd to the 10th.
