Kettlewell is an idyllic country village based in Upper Wharfedale, North Yorkshire. This beautiful place is a further drive north of Grassington. Kettlewell is a place like Grassington that I have been visiting many times of the year since I was young.
Kettlewell is small but has plenty to offer those wanted to see the beauty of the Yorkshire Dales. Along with the stunning beauty Kettlewell was also used in the 2003 movie Calendar girls staring Helen Mirren and Julie Walters. This our list of accommodation in Kettlewell, North Yorkshire.

Camping In Kettlewell
I like to think of myself as a bit of a pro when it comes to camping in the Yorkshire Dales. We’ve camped in Kettlewell multiple times over the past two decades. Here are some of our favourite campsites in the area;
Buckden Camping And Pods Heber Farm
Buckden camping site is located 9-minute drive from Kettlewell main village. Located near a smaller village of Buckden which offers up a couple of pubs, a shop and great walks.
The campsite offers a wide variety of camping such as camping pods, tent pitches and camper van pitches. The site is well equipped with many facilities such as a launderette, children’s playground and electric hook up.
There are also other bonuses such as local shop open every morning, local pubs and restaurants and dogs are welcome on site.
The facilities are based in the farmyard with pot washing, toilets and a power shower. The site also has a fridge and freezer available for use if you wish.
Fires are not permitted in and around tents on the site but barbeques are allowed as long as they are raised up from the floor or bricks are used to raise up. The website offers up information on the nearest doctors, vet service, petrol station, cash machine and bus service.
Kettlewell Campsites offers up plots just for tents, trailer tents and small campervans. The site is in a great location just minutes from the main village of Kettlewell.
You can reach the village by foot or car within minutes. Dogs are welcome as long as owners clean up after them and keep them on a lead at all times. They have recently updated their facilities building to be more modern.
The building has new underfloor heating and heated water system to provide long hot showers for guests. There is a separate section of the building for washing pots, family/disabled shower room for those who need it.
The campsite also provides a communal fridge and freezer to keep perishables cool during your stay. If you require any help planning your walks in the Dales’ head to the office where they can point you in the right direction.
There is a laundry service open from 9 am – 5 pm Monday to Thursday and 9 am – 2 pm Friday and weekends in peak season. The campsite does not permit ground fires but allows raised fire pits and you can also rent a fire pit and eco logs for sale.
Barbeques must also be raised up and on stands, blocks can be provided for those who need them. This accommodation in Kettlewell is great for families in summer to get out and have an adventure.
Causeway Croft Caravan Park
Causeway Croft caravan park is open to touring Caravans, motorhomes and trailer tents. The campsite is found on Far Lane in the main part of the village. The campsite has showers and a toilet block for guests. As I haven’t stayed at this site and used the facilities I am unsure of what they are like. They do however allow dogs on site and have electricity available.
I think overall the campsite is fairly new and basic so anyone wanting to have a few more amenities on site may want to book at one of the other two.
I think the campsite may be catered to more hardcore hikers, walkers and bikers. Or sees that many in the caravans have their own kitchen with sink and shower room they don’t need to offer too much in terms of facilities.

Bed and Breakfast In Kettlewell
Blue Bell Inn
This is one of the oldest places to stay in Kettlewell and a place my parents have stayed many times. This warm and welcoming pub is open for everyone and anyone.
This is a perfect space for walkers and hikers to use as a base. The Blue Bell Inn has 5 double rooms and two twins all with en-suite bathrooms, TVs, tea and coffee making facilities and hairdryers.
The added allure to the Inn is that both children and pets are allowed in both the pub and in the rooms. The owner of the Blue Bell Inn does make the guests and pets feel welcome, he even may give your dog a treat on occasion.
My parents often stop here on the way home from a walk in the dales to have a nice home cooked meal and a well-earned beer. This has to be one of the more well-known pubs and accommodation in Kettlewell.
Pennycroft Guest House
The guest house is located on Far Lane opposite the Blue Bell Inn and near the Race Horse Hotel. There are 3 rooms available, one single room, one double room and a large room with a king size bed.
Unfortunately, no pets are allowed in the guest house. Pennycroft is awarded Walker’s friendly scheme, they have many books, maps, clothing and equipment available for hire.
