I have been visiting Pateley Bridge since I was young and can remember everything from walking down to the river to paddle to visiting the oldest sweet shop in England for all our favourite sweets.
We spent plenty of time in Pateley Bridge and the rest of the Yorkshire Dales camping.
I wanted to write this guide to help those looking to visit Pateley Bridge to find the most suitable accommodation. I hope you enjoy your visit to Pateley Bridge as much as I enjoyed mine…
Hotels In Pateley Bridge
The Crown Inn
The Crown Inn is located at the bottom of the hill on the main street of Pateley Bridge. The Crown Inn offers up accommodation and on-site restaurant perfect for nipping downstairs to get a quick snack or cosy?up by the fire on a cold day.
The hotel offers up safe cycle storage and packed lunches upon request. The hotel is a 17th-century stone-built building that was originally a coach house with 4 rooms available. ( find out about parking)
The hotel has 3 style rooms available, the double superior suite that comes with an en-suite, king size bed with a sofa bed and tea and coffee facilities.
The next room is the double standard suite, this room comes with an en-suite, double bed, ironing facilities and tea and coffee facilities.
The last is the family standard en-suite, this is a double room with an adjoining room that can sleep 2 people with en-suite. This is a great room for families looking to make the most of staying together or in groups.
Harefield Hall is a 4-star hotel located in Pateley Bridge. This hotel is definitely a league above The Crown Inn as it is said to have once belonged to the Archbishop of York and also once was rumoured to have been owned by King Henry VIII.
This is definitely fine country accommodation and boasts a natural log fire, lounge, and stunning views. This hotel is perfect for couples to get away and enjoy a relaxing weekend, this hotel is now over 16’s only.
Harefield?Hall has 14 individually furnished en-suite rooms that come with flat screen tv’s and tea and coffee facilities. They offer up a range of rooms to suit everyone from cyclists to cosy double rooms and superior suites for more romantic getaways.
The rooms include a small double (single occupancy), Small double for 2 people, double/twin rooms and a superior double. Dogs are allowed in the bar only and not in the rooms.
The hotel also has a great space called the ‘BunkHouse’, this is two rooms connected with bunk beds which can sleep up to 14 people at one time.
This is a great place for large groups such as walking groups, cycling groups or friends to save money on their trip. The room comes with the same standard of bed linen, facilities, and breakfast.
Grassfield Hall is an old manor house that has a long and interesting past located on the edge of Pateley Bridge. The home has been used for a home, military base, place of worship and now a hotel.
The hotel was a derelict building and was fully restored back to glory and opened as a hotel in 2017. Grassfield Hall is home to wonderfully decorated rooms, a lovely venue for weddings and functions and has the opportunity for private dining and bar space.
There are 8 rooms in total and all are decorated to the highest standard with fine furnishings and fantastic views.
The rooms are all named after different past owners of the house and are all double rooms with en-suite bathrooms. The rooms are set at a high standard with jacuzzi bath in some and heated marble flooring. This is definitely a place to come on a luxury romantic getaway to live like celebrities without breaking the bank.
There is on-site parking for guests and unfortunately, dogs are not permitted. This has to be one the most luxurious styles of accommodation in Pateley Bridge.
Pateley Bridge Caravan Park
Riverside Caravan Park
This site is dedicated to touring and static caravans located a short walk away from the main village of Pateley Bridge. This lovely site gives visitors the best of both with the main street a short walk away and stunning views of Nidderdale.
They have grass and hard standing pitches for caravans and tents. The campsite is fully stocked with facilities such as electric hook up, calor gas and gas available and waste and water disposal.
The site also has washing facilities for pots and pans, washrooms including family and disabled rooms, laundry service and toilet block.
The site does state that it no longer accepts tents for weekends and bank holidays and cannot accommodate large tents over 5m by 5m.
They also state that awning annexes, gazebos, pup tents or toilet tents are not permitted.
There are terms and conditions to read before booking with the site. There is no information on a park for children, whether barbeques are allowed and if dogs are accepted.
Heathfield Caravan Park
Located 5 minutes by car or 30-minute walk from the main high street of Pateley Bridge this site offers up secluded tranquil spot. This site is mostly dedicated to touring campervans and motorhomes as well as static caravans.
The pitches are all hardstanding base with gravel or flagged patio area for you to sit out and enjoy the view. There are tv point and electric hook up available on each pitch.
The site also has static caravans that are for sale on their website. There is a library on site to pick up books to read for a small donation in the charity box.
Within the main toilet block, there is a 24hour washer and tumble dryer for guests to use. There is also a shop on site stocking all the essentials and items you may have forgotten and need to stock up on.
Bed And Breakfast In Pateley Bridge
Talbot House Bed And Breakfast
Talbot House is located on the main street within the village of Pateley Bridge. The 6 bedroom bed and breakfast is in a great location on the high street with shops, restaurants, and pubs just a stone’s throw away. This bed and breakfast is encased in a grade II listed Georgian building and is decorated to a lovely standard.
Each room comes with an en-suite bathroom, tea and coffee making facilities, TV, hairdryer and free wifi. There is safe bicycle storage for cyclists passing through on the trail.
Though parking is not mentioned on their website, as the bed and breakfast is located on the high street parking will be limited.
There is a car park open to the public opposite Talbot House and is pay and display through the day and free from 6pm-8am. They also have a tea room serving up a variety of hot and cold foods and freshly baked cakes.
The Willow Bed And Breakfast
The Willow Bed And Breakfast is located just off the main street in Pateley Bridge. The rooms come fully equipped with a bed, sofa, refrigerator, tea and coffee facilities and dining area.
The en-suite comes with bathrobe and hairdryer. The room types vary from a deluxe double/twin room, deluxe double room, an apartment on the ground floor that can sleep up to 4 people and an apartment on the top floor that can sleep, 6 people.
The bed and breakfast come with on-site parking which is a great advantage as public parking is pay and display.
There are a bar and restaurant in the bed and breakfast with good quality food, there is also free wifi throughout the bed and breakfast.
Unfortunately, pets are not allowed at this property. Each room is decorated to a high standard and well kept.
Lyndale Guest House
Lyndale Guest House is a Victorian built home which is now transformed into a country bed and breakfast.
Located just off the main street in Pateley Bridge it is a great spot for cyclists cycling The Way Of The Roses trail.
The bed and breakfast come with secure cycle storage for those cycling the trail. There is private parking on a level base for 2 cars, they can reserve a space for disabled parking if needed. Breakfast is included at the guest house.
The guest house has a dining area for guests to use to bring and make food as well as watch television. There is no communal lounge instead use the dining area.
The cottage has a microwave and fridge free to use but not at breakfast time. There are 6 rooms available, 2 family rooms, one twin room, one double room, one single room and another which is a family room but suited to the disabled/elderly. The rooms are nicely decorated though some may say a little dated.
Pateley Bridge Campsites
We never camped at/near Pateley Bridge, it was always a place we would stop in on our way home or after a day out at Brimham Rocks.
There are not many direct Pateley Bridge Campsites other than Riverside Caravan park who also accept tents ( see above for details).
Cottages in Pateley Bridge
There are plenty of cottages and holiday homes to stay in within the Nidderdale area. These can be a great option for large parties, families and people who just want a home from home. Having the everyday comforts of a home is a great way to explore the Yorkshire Dales.
This charming mid-terrace is placed in the centre of Pateley Bridge and still retains plenty of the original features.
The cottage sleeps 4 people with 2 bedrooms and 1 bathroom, unfortunately, no pets are allowed. There are plenty of features that make this a desirable place to stay such as a hot tub, games room, open fire and wifi.
The cottage is suitable for a family of 4, there are cots and highchair available for younger children.
There is everything you need to make home-cooked meals, washing facilities and a garden/patio area to relax or play with children. There is parking available as a first come first serve basis or a free car park opposite the property.
Winn Cottage is a great place to stay for couples looking to get away and explore Pateley Bridge and the surrounding areas. The cosy mid-terrace cottage sleeps 2 people with 1 bedroom and 1 bathroom.
Pets are allowed at this cottage but always check with the owner before booking. The living area is spacious and has a very country cottage feel, the kitchen is quite small but if you plan to eat at the surrounding restaurants and pubs then it should be sufficient. The bedroom is nicely decorated with the original beams in the ceilings.
The cottage has wifi available throughout, a washing machine, a garden/patio area and an open fire. There are some beautiful features of this cottage that make a lovely weekend away.
The bathroom facilities offer up a shower, bath, WC and basin. There is roadside parking nearby, there are car parks on the main street of Pateley Bridge.
Claro Cottage is a period building hidden away in a small courtyard. The cottage has free wifi, free street parking and family rooms. The cottage sleeps up to 5 people, with bed linen and towels provided.
There is a fully equipped kitchen with dishwasher, washing machine, microwave, oven and kettle and toaster. Pets are allowed at the cottage on request and as the owner’s discretion.
There are 2 rooms available, one room is a double room and the other is a bunk bed with a double bed on the bottom and a single on top. This is suitable for families of 4-5 or 2 couples together for a week away.
Parking may not be right by the property but maybe in a nearby car park, this is something you may want to check with the owner before booking.
Holiday Homes in Pateley Bridge
The Old Explorers Holiday Home
This holiday home is a second-floor accommodation that sleeps 2 people in a 1 bed home. The home offers up a fully functioning kitchen with electric oven, electric hob, washing machine, and dishwasher.
Also has an en-suite bathroom with a shower. The home overlooks the picturesque street of Pateley Bridge, the home has been restored and now offers contemporary and antique furnishings.
The property states there is public parking 50 yards away free of charge. No smoking permitted and unfortunately, no pets allowed.
Wifi is free to use within the property too. This property is great if a couple is looking for a base to go exploring the surrounding areas, walks and trails.
No. 5 The Stables
No.5 The Stables offers up a lovely home to suit 4 people. This property is only available to adults only and does not allow children or pets.
There are a double room and a separate twin room for guests with 2 bathrooms and a kitchen. There is a garden to enjoy the weather and parking is located off-site and is public parking, this may include a parking charge by the local council.
The rooms are nicely decorated and are well looked after. The property is best suited to groups of 4 who are interested in walking, cycling or exploring the nearby areas.
Bridgeway View is a private apartment overlooking the main street in Pateley Bridge. Offering up 4 bedrooms, 2 bathrooms and sleeps up to 6 people.
The holiday home doesn’t allow smoking or pets in any of the rooms or house. The holiday home accepts children and babies and offers a high chair and cot if needed.
The home is accessible from outside in the courtyard by stone steps to the 2-floor apartment.
The first floor has a fully fitted kitchen with range cooker and fridge freezer along with 2 bedrooms and dining room. This also has king-size beds and a nice size family bathroom.
Upstairs has 2 more bedrooms. This is perfect for a family or group looking to stay together and make the most of the free living space.
There is no parking at the holiday home but there is a car park nearby which is pay and display through the day and free overnight from 6 pm – 8 am.
