When we began planning our first trip to Oahu, Hawaii we were overwhelmed by the sheer number of different accommodation options available. After hours of research, we were thrilled with where we chose to stay.

However, we figured it shouldn’t be so complex for other travellers in the future. For that reason, we spent a number of our days on the island exploring different resorts and hotels to come up with this comprehensive guide.

1. Moana Surfrider, A Westin Resort & Spa

The Moana Surfrider, A Westin Resort & Spa is one of the most opulent hotels on Waikiki Beach.

This historic hotel originally opened in 1901 and is commonly known as the First Lady of Waikiki.

The hotel combines Victorian charm and elegance with guest rooms that offer beach views with private balconies. You can stay in the historic hotel or the new, more modern tower.

The resort’s ideal location on Waikiki Beach makes it the perfect place to try out all the nearby activities, including catamaran sailing tours, canoe rides, and surfing lessons.

You can also go snorkelling or swimming at the resort’s beautiful private beach. Many activities like the zoo and the aquarium are just a short distance away, along with plenty of restaurants and other activities.
