There are certain rides that you may not be permitted to wear them as they may get caught or cause danger to you or others. If this is the case the Universal Studios team member will ask you to leave your robes in a locker or with a non-rider companion.

How Much Do The Robes Cost?

You can, however, purchase robes elsewhere before you come to Universal Studios at a more affordable rate and save the extra money and put it towards a wand or magical creature.

All robes sold at Universal Studios Orlando and Hollywood come with a pocket on the inside of the robes. This pocket is designed to hold your wand when you are not doing spells or using magic.

Each pocket is large enough and long enough to fit in the interactive wands and normal wands sold within the Universal Studios parks.

Should You Buy Robes Before Going To Universal Studios?

There is no definitive answer to whether you should buy your robes before your trip or during your trip. It depends on your budget and how much you want to wear a robe during your time at Universal Studios.

Many people buy second hand Universal Studio’s robes from eBay to pack into their luggage to bring to the parks with them. Alternatively, you can buy robes from supermarkets or costume shops are at a cheaper rate.

If you are working within a budget or just trying to be friendly to your wallet look at purchasing your robes or interactive wand before heading to Universal Studios (the wand is a cheaper item to buy within the park and comes with a better experience overall).

Another bonus if you are located in the USA is that you can buy your official Universal Studios robes online and get them delivered to your door. This makes a great surprise for anyone for birthdays, Christmas or even before a trip.

Are The Universal Studios Harry Potter Robes Worth Buying?

If you are a huge Harry Potter fan you might be wondering whether or not to go the full hog and get the robes, wand and maybe even a magical creature to sit on your shoulder while at Universal Studios. But you might also be wondering if buying the robes at the parks is worth it.

There are a couple of things you might want to ask yourself before buying the robes from Universal Studios;

  • Will you wear them all day in the heat?
  • Will they be used when you get home?
  • Where will they be stored if not worn around the parks?
  • Would you prefer an interactive wand or robes?

If you don’t plan to wear your robes most of the day (the weather can get extremely hot, especially in summer) where will you store your robes? There are lockers in the park but you have to pay for those, so that is extra money you could save for something else.

There is no denying that the quality of the robes is the best you will find on the market. They are made from thick, study and long lasting fabric. They are the most accurate replica of those used in filming and so if you want to look genuine and really have the best there is, then yes they are worth it.

If you are super fan and will go home after your trip and wear your robe while you make your morning coffee, then yes they are worth it. I think if you are an adult buying for yourself it is easier to understand the worth and value of the robes themselves.

If you are looking to buy for children, I would say the cost of the robes is not worth it. There are plenty of good quality versions on the market which you can find for a fraction of the price. I would personally buy robes in advance and use the fun money to buy an interactive wand instead.

You might find when you return home that the robe is thrown into a draw or into the back of the wardrobe and forgotten about (just like you thought). You can sell it either through eBay, on a local selling page or within a Harry Potter fan group on Facebook.

Personally, I would save my money to use going to Ollivander’s and choosing a wand. As they are cheaper and have more of an experience connected to them as well as more interactive things to do within Hogsmeade and Diagon Alley.

If you plan to wear your robes most of your trip and in the parks along with really using them at home and want to invest in quality then the Universal Studios Harry Potter robes are worth buying.

If you are buying for children or wish to dress up for the Wizarding World of Harry Potter land-only or are on a budget then the Harry Potter robes from Universal Studios are not worth it.
