Destination Guide: England

England is a country within the United Kingdom (made up of England, Ireland, Scotland and Wales). The capital, London is the most popular with international visitors with more than 30 million visitors a year. England is incredibly popular with international tourists due to its rich history and the British royal family.

The capital of England, London is located towards the south of England, meanwhile, Helen and I live in the north. In the north of England, you’ll find Manchester, home to the football club Manchester United and the busiest international airport outside of London. You’ll also find the picturesque Yorkshire Dales as well as the place we call home, Wakefield.

Scarborough Market - Leeds to Scarborough

Over on the east coast of England, you’ll find a number of seaside resorts including; Scarborough and Whitby. These seaside towns were popular in the ’60s and ’70s prior to the rise of European holidays and budget airlines.

If you fancy something a little different during your time in England then consider heading to Center Parcs. These resorts were developed in the Netherlands in 1968 and are set within 400 acres of stunning forestry.
