Every Ride At Universal Studios Hollywood (Complete List)

Looking to plan your day at Universal Studios Hollywood? In that case, the best place to often start is with a list of rides.

Below we’ve listed each of the rides at Universal Studios Hollywood alongside the height requirement and average wait time so you can get an idea as to which rides are best suited to you and your family when visiting this fantastic theme park.

Mario Kart: Bowser’s Challenge

📏 Height Requirement: 40″ (102cm)
Average Wait Time: 120 minutes

Mario Kart: Bowser’s Challenge is the latest ride to open at Universal Studios Hollywood. Situated in Super Nintendo World, this ride uses AR technology constructed through a Mario hat and visor.

To go on Mario Kart: Bowser’s Challenge alone, guests must be 48″ or taller, meanwhile, to go on the ride with a supervising adult, guests must be 40″ or taller and while there is no weight restriction for this ride it does use a lap bar and for your safety and security, you’ll need to ensure that the lap bar securely fits around your waist to be able to go on the ride.

The test seat for Mario Kart: Bowser’s Challenge is located inside the entrance of the ride to the right (before the stairs).

Instructions on how to use the test seat are provided above, however, if you’re unsure about anything we recommend speaking to one of the staff members who should be at the ride’s entrance.

If you’re based in the UK I recommend buying your Universal Studios Hollywood park tickets from AttractionTix. They have the most competitive prices and incredible customer service.

If you’re based in the US or Canada I recommend UndercoverTourist for your Universal Studios Hollywood tickets. They have the most competitive prices and a range of different ticket options to suit all budgets and requirements.

Our comprehensive Universal Hollywood packing list can be both customised and printed for your convenience.

Experience a fun-filled day in the life of a Minion with Gru and his daughters as you all go on another unexpected adventure. Hijinks and impromptu dance parties are, of course, part of the ride.

The ride begins when the guests get shot by the Minion Gun, a new device that Doctor Nefario created to turn human beings into minions. The riders would then go through an absolute Minion Mayhem as they rush through their crazy lab.

Outside this ride, you’ll often find a Despicable Me meet and greet opportunity where characters from the franchise will rotate for photos throughout the day. Meanwhile, around the back of the ride, you’ll find the expansive Super Silly Fun Land. A large interactive play area which has been recreated to represent the carnival from the first film.

Flight Of The Hippogriff

📏 Height Requirement: 39″ (100cm)
Average Wait Time: 19 minutes

The Flight of the Hippogriff is situated inside The Wizarding World of Harry Potter and is the perfect family-friendly ride for Harry Potter enthusiasts.

On this ride, you have the pleasure of flying over Hagrid’s giant pumpkin patch and his bungalow hut as he directs you while approaching the Hippogriff, a mystical creature that’s a blend between a horse and an eagle.

This ride is a great introduction to rollercoasters for younger guests. It’s got a relatively low height requirement and there aren’t any gravity-defying loops or terrifying moments that you might find on other rides within the park.

That all being said, this ride is still worth going on as it’s one of the few open-air roller coasters in the park and provides some fantastic views of the Wizarding World of Harry Potter that can’t be found elsewhere.

Harry Potter And The Forbidden Journey

📏 Height Requirement: 48″ (122cm)
Average Wait Time: 32 minutes

Harry Potter and the Forbidden Journey is the second ride inside The Wizarding World of Harry Potter and unlike Flight Of The Hippogriff is a little more thrilling.

In fact, this is a perfect ride for all the muggles who’ve dreamed of studying at Hogwarts as the motion simulation will take you on a magical broomstick journey with Harry and his friends as you fly freely through the school of magic.

Alongside the height restriction, this ride also has a lap bar that comes over your front and clips in place. Subsequently, some guests with larger chests have found that they’ve been unable to ride. Test seats are available at the entrance of the ride, with staff members on hand to assist should you require them.

Unlike some other motion simulation rides at Universal Studios Hollywood, the synchronisation between the movements, music and the screen alongside the motion itself is well done and doesn’t cause too much sickness.

Better still, as you wait for this ride you’ll have the pleasure of visiting some of the most iconic parts of Hogwarts including; Dumbledore’s office, the Gryffindor common room, and the Hogwarts hallowed classrooms

Jurassic World: The Ride

📏 Height Requirement: 42″ (107cm)
Average Wait Time: 47 minutes

Jurassic World: The Ride is one of the newest and most thrilling rides situated in the lower lot of the Universal Studios Hollywood theme park. With a combination of masterful special effects, sets, and videos, immerse yourself in the timeless landscape of dinosaurs and action.

The ride begins as it takes you through the calm waters of Jurassic World. Then it gradually picks up the heat as more and more beautifully-crafted dinosaur illustrations show up on the way. Get caught up in the action as the new Indominus Rex stalks you and dukes it out with her archnemesis, the Tyrannosaurus Rex!

Revenge of the Mummy: The Ride

📏 Height Requirement: 48″ (121cm)
Average Wait Time: 30 minutes

In our opinion, the scariest ride at Universal Studios Hollywood is the recently refurbished Revenge of the Mummy.

Be sure to brush up on your hieroglyphics before you head to the park as some of the writing on the wall actually give you real warnings as to what you’re about to experience. This is one of the best rides at Universal Studios Hollywood and takes you through the darkness at speeds of up to 45mph (72 km/h).

Silly Swirly Fun Ride

📏 Height Requirement: None
Average Wait Time: 10 minutes

Situated in Super Silly Fun Land just behind Despicable Me: Minion Mayhem is the Silly Swirly Fun Ride. This is the only ‘real’ ride (aside from The World Famous Studio Tour & Dreamworks Theatre) that has no height requirement at Universal Studios Hollywood. So we made the most of this and took our 14-month-old on during our most recent trip to the park.

This ride features multiple colourful customised bugs which you use as vehicles to take you on a 360-degree journey at a height from which you can see all of Super Silly Fun Land.

The cool thing is that children have the freedom to control the height of their rides. So if you’re with a little one who is a little scared you can keep it at that lower height rather than going to the height limit (which is surprisingly high all things considered).

The Secret Life of Pets: Off the Leash

📏 Height Requirement: 34″ (87cm)
Average Wait Time: 25 minutes

The Secret Life of Pets: Off The Leash is one of the newest rides inside the Universal Studios theme park and is perfect for children. This two-seater ride is a classic-indoor dark ride, meaning that there are no fast-paced roller coaster moments here as this right is primarily focused on the visual and auditory experience.

The ride takes you through the New York City streets with the characters of The Secret Life of Pets who are in search of a new forever home. Given how new this ride is it’s no surprise it boasts some of the latest in ride technology including an impressive amount of special effects and a whopping 64 animatronics.

The Simpsons Ride

📏 Height Requirement: 40″ (102cm)
Average Wait Time: 40 minutes

Situated in the Upper Lot of Universal Studios Hollywood inside Springfield, home of The Simpsons is The Simpsons Ride. This five-minute simulation ride launched in 2008, and has a minimum height requirement of 1.02m.

This ride is in our opinion, the worst ride at Universal Studios Hollywood due to the severe motion sickness it’s known to cause. The storyline of this ride requires you to be thrown around quite a lot, which combined with a 15-year-old motion simulation often makes even those who have never previously experienced motion sickness feel a little squeezy.

The story of the ride is that Krusty the Clown has launched a low-budget theme park. So, together with Homer, Marge, Bart, Lisa and of course Maggie you’ll take some high-speed twists and turns as you smash and blast through the park in a non-stop, over-the-top adventure.

The World Famous Studio Tour

📏 Height Requirement: None
Average Wait Time: 23 minutes

The World-Famous Studio Tour is the highlight of the Universal Studios Hollywood theme park. Situated in the lower lot of the theme park, this one-hour journey will take you across roughly 400 acres of studio lots dating back almost 100 years.

The tour brings with it a mishmash of both nostalgia and all-new franchise excitement making it perfect for the whole family.

Your entertaining tour guide will walk you through the all-too-familiar sets, genuine movie props, and animatronics, all while learning about the studio’s history and most popular films. Given that this studio is still operational you may pass by celebrities or live shoots making no two tours the same!

King Kong 360 3D

As part of The World-Famous Studio Tour, you will also enter King Kong 360 3D and Fast & Furious – Supercharged.

Neither of these rides requires you to transfer from the tour vehicle or have any additional requirements other than you need to put on your 3D glasses which you will have been provided with upon boarding.

The King Kong 360 3D ride sees you get caught in the middle of a terrifying struggle between a 35-foot T-Rex and King Kong. The experience can be a little scary and loud for younger viewers, however, it lasts no more than two minutes.

Fast & Furious – Supercharged

Much like King Kong 360 3D, the Fast & Furious – Supercharged experience is part of The World-Famous Studio Tour and sees you ride alongside the all-star cast of the hit film franchise.

This attraction uses the world’s largest 360-degree canvas as a projector along with motion simulation of the ride vehicle to make you feel as though you are on a high-speed chase.

Unlike King Kong, most younger children really enjoy this part of the tour – and for those that don’t, it only lasts a couple of minutes.

Transformers: The Ride 3-D

📏 Height Requirement: 40″ (102cm)
Average Wait Time: 30 minutes

Transformers: The Ride 3-D ride has been specially designed with motion simulation, animatronics, special effects, and 3-D visuals which make it highly immersive, engaging and exciting.

Before the ride begins, the one-and-only Optimus Prime himself will give you a briefing about the mission you’re going on, setting the scene for the story that’s due to be told throughout the ride. He will explain how the war between the Autobots and the Decepticons has raged and how you’re about to enter the battle yourself.

From there you’ll join the Autobots to help Optimus Prime and their fellow Transformers as you try to protect the Allspark from enemies

Those who experience motion sickness may find this ride triggering, while the flashing lights and fast-moving motions may not be suitable for all guests.

  1. Thanks! I went there yesterday and I happened to look at this to get an idea of the rides we wanted to go on. We got on every one of them except the swirly one because it was late and it had been raining all day so we were wet cold and ready to go home. I also saw your guide for the scary rides to look out for because I’m a chicken and was afraid but the guide helped me prepare for the unknown and I was able to overcome my fears. Much appreciated!

  2. thanks a lot i had the idea of making a list of rides and checking them off once i ride them.
