How To Get From Sanford Airport To Walt Disney World

Sanford Airport is located 46 miles north of Walt Disney World and is subsequently a popular airport choice for those looking to visit the resort.
You can travel from Sanford Airport to Walt Disney World in a hire car or in a taxi (inc Uber and Lyft). The journey takes between 45 minutes and one hour depending on; the traffic, where within the Walt Disney World Resort you are going and how you plan to travel.
Personally, we find Uber or Lyft to be the best way to travel from Sanford Airport to the Walt Disney World Resort.
While it’s not the cheapest method it’s the most convenient and direct, which because we travel internationally to Disney is something we favour.

If you plan on travelling outside of the Walt Disney World Resort during your trip then a rental car is a great option.
There are many rental car companies available in Orlando that provide an extensive range of vehicles for you to choose from.
Some of the most reputable hire car companies serving Sanford Airport include;

Renting a car from an individual has also become increasingly popular through companies such as Turo.
There are a number of vehicles available to rent in Orlando using the Turo service with prices ranging from $38 to $600 per day depending on the vehicle.
However, the cost of renting a car isn’t the only thing you’ll need to think about when considering whether this option is right for you. You’ll also want to consider the cost of gas, toll roads and parking.
Parking At Walt Disney World
Standard parking at a Walt Disney World park costs $25 per day while preferred parking costs $50 per day.
Meanwhile, the cost of parking at a Walt Disney World hotel depends on the category of the hotel;

Taxis from Sanford Airport can be obtained in a number of different ways including;
- Taxi rank outside of the airport
- Reservation in advance
- Rideshare service
A taxi from Sanford Airport to the Walt Disney World Resort typically costs around $50 one-way.
However, the price can increase dramatically depending on; how you book, the size of vehicle you require, the traffic and where within the Walt Disney World Resort you plan to travel.
Personally, when we look to travel from Sanford Airport to Walt Disney World we do so using a rideshare service such as Uber or Lyft.
Both companies pick you up from the dedicated rideshare pickup area which is located just outside the terminal and well-signposted.
Be sure you don’t book your vehicle until you’re through immigration and have collected your luggage.
Typically drivers will be available to collect you in under 10 minutes and will leave if you’re not able to meet the vehicle within 5 minutes of their arrival.
If you’re travelling on a budget then consider comparing the cost of the journey on both the Uber and Lyft platforms since one company can often be slightly cheaper than another based on demand at that time.

Sadly there is currently no public transport between Sanford Airport and Walt Disney World, and any shuttle services previously provided by Walt Disney World to / from the local airports are no longer in operation.
