Staying on site at Universal Loews Sapphire Falls

Are you looking at how to spend one day at Universal Studios Orlando?

Universal Studios Orlando is a place that you can easily spend a week or more doing everything and seeing everything there is. With 2 major parks to visit and 1 amazing water park along with City Walk, there is plenty to keep everyone entertained. But what if you only have one day spare?

Can you do Universal Studios in one day? Yes, you can but with this, you have to choose your rides and attractions carefully as to not spend too much time waiting around. To make the day go faster you can opt to buy an additional Express Pass so you can get on rides faster giving you more time seeing the rest of the parks.

There are a number of ways in which you can streamline your day to ensure you see everything you could possibly want in the limited time frame. I wanted to create a

How To Spend One Day At Universal Studios Orlando?

For many going to places such as Disney World and Universal Studios is a once in a lifetime trip so you really don’t want to rush and miss something you otherwise would have enjoyed.

Depending on what you are going to Universal Studios Orlando for will determine how you spend your time. If you are only interested in a couple of the areas such as Simpsons, Harry Potter and superheroes you can kind of skim through the other areas like Zeus Landing and Jurassic Park.

If you predominately want to go on the majority of the rides available you might want to skim past the viewing of shops and the intricacies of each land to spend your time on rides.

If you are heading to Universal Studios as a family or group you might want to create a plan of what you most want to do or see within each park so that everyone gets a fair

Look For The Best Ticket Options

If you are looking at how to spend one day at Universal Studios you will want to get a ticket that includes park hopper access. This will enable you to be able to jump from one park to another so you can do and see everything you want in one day.

Without this type of ticket, you won’t be able to hop from one park to the next and fulfil your one day at Universal Studios. Also if like me you are a massive Harry Potter fan you will want to be able to ride the Hogwarts Express from one park to the other. Without a two-park day ticket, you won’t be able to do this.

Plan Your Rides

For me, much of the experience of Universal Studios Orlando is the rides so it is no surprise that this is one of the ways you can make the most of your one day at Universal Studios. It is something that takes up the most time with queues and the wait times, some of the larger and more popular rides can be up to 90 minutes wait (in peak season).

My top tip if you were looking at how to spend one day at Universal Studios Orlando I would break down a list of each park and the rides you wish to get on. Put them in a numbered order of your favourite first and so on, that way you can head straight to the ride, queue get on and head to the next.

Another way to streamline your ride experience would be to download a map of the parks and highlight the rides you wish to go on. That way you can create a route in which to take to see as much of the parks as possible, get on the rides you want and save precious time.

Also if you are looking to make the most of your trip you can look into getting express passes. This will maximise your time in the parks and potentially minimise the number of days you have there. This is helpful if you want to get on all the rides and you are also fitting in a trip to Disney World too.

Look At Staying On-Site

One great way of getting the most out of your day at Universal Studios Orlando is staying on site. If you are only there for a day you can book a 2-night stay, check-in the day before and get plenty of rest then retire back at the hotel that night before continuing the rest of your holiday.

Look for a hotel that offers an extra hour or early access into the park for hotel guests only. This can be a major benefit to only having one day at the park. It is also better if you don’t plan on getting the Express Pass as this can help make up that time with limited guests in the park and smaller queues for rides.

Hotels that offer this style of park excess are:

  • Loews Royal Pacific
  • Hard Rock Hotel
  • Loews Portofino Bay Hotel
  • Loews Sapphire Falls
  • Aventura Hotel

Have A Plan

Whenever we go to Disney and Universal Studios we always have some kind of plan. Usually so we can make sure everyone gets to see and do what they want along with making sure we have rides in mind, places to eat and so on.

Creating a plan for your one day at Universal Studios is no different if anything you want to have a more strict plan so that you can go into the park and know where you need to be and what you want to see and do.

I highly suggest having a plan together or the route to take so that everyone in the group or family can have their chance to be on the ride they want, see the things they want to and do the things they want to. The last thing you want it to be splitting up arguments in Harry Potter land with wands in the air!

If you predominately want to go on the majority of the rides available you might want to skim past the viewing of shops and the intricacies of each land to spend your time on rides. Though I always love going in the Christmas shop at Universal Studios.

Work out what each persons’ top priority land or attraction is so you can focus on those areas. No doubt you will be walking through some of the lands that may not spark interest to you but as it gives you a route to the next part you might as well enjoy the view.

Pick up a map from your hotel beforehand so you can get through the gates at opening and get straight into the action without anything slowing you down. Though it is good to have a clear plan, it doesn’t;t have to be a military operation, it mostly so everyone can enjoy the day and go for what they really wanted to see.
