Is EPCOT Worth Visiting?
EPCOT is perhaps the most overlooked of the four theme parks inside the Walt Disney World Resort which leaves many wondering whether an extra day at Walt Disney World in order to visit this park is worthwhile.
While EPCOT is certainly different to Magic Kingdom or Hollywood Studios, it still has a lot to offer guests of all ages. As such we would recommend reserving either half a day or a full day to visit this park when visiting the Walt Disney World Resort.
EPCOT (which stands for Experimental Prototype Community of Tomorrow) has recently undergone a major transformation with new rides and attractions including Guardians of the Galaxy: Cosmic Rewind.
However, this theme park is so much more than just rides as it changes throughout the year with different festivals including; Food & Wine and Flower & Garden.
How Much Does It Cost To Go To EPCOT?
How much Walt Disney World theme park tickets cost varies depending on a number of factors including;
- The theme park you’re visiting
- The number of days you’re visiting for
- Single park tickets or park hopper tickets
- When you purchase your Walt Disney World theme park tickets
For example, a one-day ticket to EPCOT costs between $114 and $179, depending on the date you visit. As with the rest of the Disney World parks, EPCOT tickets work on a date-based pricing model, meaning prices vary between days based on demand.
If you also plan on visiting other Disney World Resort theme parks, a more economical way to get your EPCOT ticket could be to purchase a multi-day Disney Resort ticket.
A multi-day ticket gives you the option to visit any of the 4 Disney World theme parks – Magic Kingdom, Animal Kingdom, Hollywood Studios, and EPCOT – within the number of days that you choose.
Multi-day Disney World Tickets (one park per day) for adults 10+ currently work out at:
- 2 days: from $112 per day
- 3 days: from $114 per day
- 4 days: from $114 per day
- 5 days: from $99 per day
Is EPCOT Worth Visiting?
EPCOT is one of the most unique theme parks in the world.
With its focus on global culture, human advancement, and future technology, EPCOT offers something a little different from the rest of the Disney World parks.
For many, this EPCOT is a fun and exciting theme park. However, there are a couple of exceptions;
- Thrill seekers – Despite having its own unique attractions, EPCOT does lack the big thrill rides when compared to other theme parks within the Disney World Resort. If adrenalin-fuelled coasters are your top priority, EPCOT may not be the park for you.
- Tweens and teens – Teens and young adults may find the educational aspect of EPCOT a little boring if they were expecting more of an amusement park with high-action rides and exciting attractions.
Best Month(s) To Visit EPCOT
EPCOT is a great park to visit all year round. However, some months do offer more than others.
The best time to visit EPCOT is during the International Food & Wine Festival, which takes place between July and November each year.
EPCOT is already home to many of the best restaurants within the Disney World Resort. However, during the annual Food & Wine Festival, the park becomes the ultimate foodie destination.
During the festival, you can take a taste tour across six continents, with plenty of authentic food and drinks from all over the world.
You can also learn about local cuisines, culinary traditions, and cooking techniques with a packed schedule of fun activities and events suitable for adults and kids of all ages.
Other good times to visit EPCOT are during the International Flower & Garden Festival between March and July, or during the International Festival Of The Holidays from late November to the end of December.
Best Age To Visit EPCOT
EPCOT is one of the best theme parks at Walt Disney World Resort for adults.
The fascinating concept park lets you explore the culture, history, cuisine, and architecture of 11 different countries through its amazing World Showcase pavilions.
You can also learn about the many wonders of science and technology at EPCOT World Discovery.
The park features a handful of exciting rides, such as Test Track and Guardians of the Galaxy: Cosmic Rewind, that is suited for older visitors.
Plus, there’s a huge variety of unique and delicious foods and drinks from around the world to try at EPCOT’s many international restaurants.
You can even go “Drinking Around The World”, an EPCOT tradition that involves making your way around the World Showcase while stopping for drinks and snacks in each country.
While rather different from Disney’s famously kid-friendly Magic Kingdom, EPCOT is also a great park to visit with toddlers and younger children.
Kids will love the park’s many immersive and interactive attractions that are designed to educate and entertain, from Spaceship Earth – which takes you on an engaging journey through the history of communication – to Remy’s 4D Ratatouille Adventure.
The majority of rides and attractions at EPCOT don’t have a height restriction, so are perfect for smaller guests.
Kids can also meet a wide variety of Disney characters around the park, including family favourites Anna and Elsa from Frozen.
The Kidcot Fun Stops are great for keeping little visitors engaged too.
Located throughout the World Showcase pavilion, these fun craft stations give kids the opportunity to draw, colour, complete themed activities, and collect stamps for every country that they visit.
However, tweens, teens, and young adults (under the age of 21) may find EPCOT a little boring.
The park doesn’t have as many exciting thrill rides as other Disney World parks and at this age, they may find the educational attractions somewhat dull.
Can You Spend The Full Day At EPCOT?
You can spend a full day at EPCOT. However, you don’t necessarily need to.
If you want to drink around the world, or are visiting during the Food & Wine Festival, then it will likely take you the full day to experience everything EPCOT has to offer.
However, outside of those two things, we typically find that visiting EPCOT only takes between 5 and 8 hours – depending on how busy the park is and what attractions you’re looking to experience during your day.
EPCOT is often open later than the other Disney World Resort parks. It’s also extremely well connected to all three other resort parks. So if you have the park-hopper pass, it’s worth making EPCOT your second park of the day.
By visiting EPCOT later in the day, you’ll also be able to catch Harmonious, the park’s amazing nighttime spectacular with fireworks, lights, lasers, and dancing fountains.
Is It Worth Just Going To EPCOT When Visiting Walt Disney World Resort?
Personally, we don’t think so.
EPCOT is a great park that is certainly worth visiting. But for us, a trip to the Walt Disney World Resort isn’t complete without at least visiting Magic Kingdom.
It depends on what you’re looking for from your Walt Disney World vacation as to whether or not you’d favour EPCOT over the other two theme parks; Animal Kingdom and Hollywood Studios.
A day of sightseeing and eating (or drinking) your way around EPCOT is a great addition to a Disney World Resort vacation.
Especially if you’re visiting for multiple days and need something a little different from roller coasters and rides to break up your trip.
However, if you’re limited on time and are more of a thrill-seeker looking for high-adrenaline rides and attractions, the other Disney World parks may be better suited for you.

🚘 Do I Need to Rent a Car for a Visit to Walt Disney World?
You don’t need to rent a car to visit Walt Disney World. Instead, you can take an Uber or Lyft, as the theme park has pick-up and drop-off points.
Parking at Walt Disney World is expensive, so taking an Uber or Lyft can, in some cases, be cheaper.
However, if a trip to Walt Disney World only makes up a portion of your vacation, then you may want to rent a car. I personally use Discover Cars to find the best car rental when visiting the USA.
🏨 How to Book Accommodation for Walt Disney World
To book accommodation at Universal Studios, I use either Booking.com or Hotels.com. However, for large families and groups, VRBO is my number one choice.
