As Universal is home to many well-loved characters there are fans from every age including toddlers, teens and aults. With that in mind you might be wondering if Universal Studios Hollywood is any good for toddlers and suitable for them to visit.
Universal Studios Hollywood has a number of smaller playground and park areas within the park perfect for younger children and toddlers. There are shows that are perfect for smaller children to sit and watch with some of the most loved characters.
Universal Studios Hollywood is definitely worth visiting if you have toddlers as there is still plenty for them to do and so many great spaces catered to young children making it a great family day out.
Is Universal Studios Hollywood Worth It For Kids?
There is still so much to do for kids at Universal Studios Hollywood no matter your age. We found that many kids were just at the age of still loving films like Secret Life Of Pets, Trolls and Despicable Me.
With that in mind, there are many rides and shows that are both highly fun, thrilling and adventurous for kids. One of our favourites is the Kung Fu Panda Showcase which is epic on a whole new level. There are also areas such as the Super Silly Fun Land which has a playground that kids can play in and have fun while parents relax a little and enjoy a well-earned coffee.
There is also the super amazing and fun area at Hogsmeade which is part of the Wizarding World of Harry Potter. With so many kids friendly things to do from going to Olivanders, picking some magical sweets at Honeydukes and even trying out some magic in the streets at Hogsmeade you can have loads of fun.
Universal Studios Hollywood is a great place for kids as there is so much to do and see. One thing we really love is the refillable cups and refillable popcorn which is a perfect way to keep everyone hydrated but keep costs down at the same time.
Is Universal Studios Hollywood Worth It For Teens?
Much like Universal Studios Orlando, Universal Studios Hollywood is very much based on films and rides that are perfect for teenagers. The rides are thrilling, the films are cool and often in their range so it can feel like the park is catered to that audience which is great.
We found that many teenagers that were interested in the latest films and shows were heading to Universal studios Hollywood to try and catch the odd celebrity on the Studio Tour and hit the thrill rides such as Hong Kong and The revenge of the mummy ride.
If you have teens that also like Harry Potter this is a great place to bring them to explore the magic of the Wizarding World of Harry Potter, try a butterbeer and do some wand tricks.
Is Universal Studios Hollywood Worth It For Adults?
Whether you like thrill rides, shows or just seeing the characters there is something for you at Universal Studios Hollywood. There are plenty of cute areas in which you can get some pictures to show family back home, there is a whole host of amazing places to eat and try new snacks and finally so many attractions and rides to go on.
One of our favourites is the Studio Tour taking you around real life sets that are in use or were used in many different famous films and tv shows. We love seeing the names on the parking spaces and spotting different scenes and sets we recognise from shows we love.
Another thing that really makes Universal Studios Hollywood worth it for adults is the variety of rides, shows and attractions. You can head to Waterworld and watch the show there or head on the Studio Tour for some celebrity spotting.
I definitely think Universal Studios Hollywood is worth visiting for adults and has as much to offer as it does for kids and teens. There is also the added bonus of a nice meal at one of the restaurants at CityWalk and the option for a Boddingtons at Hogsmeade.
How Much Do Tickets Cost For Universal Studios Hollywood?
There are a variety of different style of tickets for Universal Studios Hollywood so depending on your budget, how many days you wish to spend at Universal Studios Hollywood and whether you want to come back again in a month or so might change which ticket you go for.
The cheapest ticket at a base price and is the one day ticket starting at $109 and the highest rate at $129. You can upgrade this to an express pass ticket which includes your day ticket, express pass which allows you front line access to each ride once within the park and saves you $10 from the front gate price.
Alternatively, if you wish to have a more leisurely time at the park and can use 2 days of your trip to Universal Studios Hollywood you can get the 2-day park ticket which includes 2 days into the parks and must be used within 7 days of the first day you go. This ticket is between $149 – $169, this will change on the time of year due to off-season and peak-season.
If you are feeling really fancy and want to make your trip a one time experience and make it really special you can opt for the VIP tour ticket which is $349 per person.
How To Get Cheap Tickets To Universal Studios Hollywood?
There aren’t many ways you can find cheap tickets for Universal Studios Hollywood but you can often find Universal Studios Hollywood themselves having frequent discounts and coupons on their tickets.
In the off-season, you may be able to find better rates on hotels, transport and tickets to Universal Studios Hollywood.
How Long To Spend At Universal Studios Hollywood?
Honestly, you can spend as long as you like at Universal Studios Hollywood because there is plenty to see, especially if you like noticing the small quirks within theme parks. We have always spent one day at Universal Studios Hollywood as that was all we could spare on our trips.
The park itself offers 1-day tickets or 2-day tickets, making a one day at the park doable especially with express passes or 2 days at a more leisurely pace.
How Much Is Parking At Universal Studios Hollywood?
Parking is often something that can really add up to a visit to the parks. The benefit to visiting Universal Studios Hollywood is that if you only choose to visit for one day you only have to pay for one day of parking.
General parking is $25 before 6 pm and $10 after 6 pm, preferred parking is $40 before 6 pm and $20 after 6 pm. There is also valet parking which is $25 for 2 hours and $45 after 2 hours.
Alternatively, you can stay at a nearby hotel and get an Uber or Lyft to and from the park if you prefer not to drive.
How Far Is Universal Studios Hollywood From Disneyland?
The distance between Universal Studios Hollywood and Disneyland in Anaheim is 34 miles. It takes roughly 50 minutes to travel between the two.
While this isn’t a lot and is very achievable for those staying in Anaheim or near Disneyland and driving, it is quite far to travel if you are travelling from Disneyland to Universal Studios Hollywood by public transport or by Uber/Lyft.
In this instance, it would be worth getting a hotel for 1 or 2 nights nearer Universal Studios Hollywood or not going to Universal at all.
Is Universal Studios Hollywood Worth Visiting If You Are Visting Disneyland?
Universal Studios Hollywood is only worth visiting when you are visiting Disneyland if you have a spare day and can get there and back easily. This is preferable if you are driving or can move and stay at a hotel near Universal Studios Hollywood for a night or two.
As Universal Studios Hollywood is suitable for everyone in the family and there is plenty to see and do you would need to work out the cost of tickets and if it is worth the visit for you. You can drive to Universal Studios Hollywood from Anaheim and back if you don’t want to change hotels as it isn’t that far.
Staying Close To Universal Studios Hollywood
One of the biggest benefits of visiting Universal Studios Hollywood is if you can stay nearby, we found on our second visit that staying close by was much easier as we found it more convenient to get there earlier in the day and have a full day at the park.
With Los Angeles being such a large place to visit you might look at staying nearby to Universal Studios Hollywood to ensure you can get to the park early and have a full fun day at the park.
You can also find a number of hotels in the area that are partner hotels with Universal Studios Hollywood that have complimentary shuttles which are great for getting a great bundle with your transportation, hotel and tickets.
What Type Of Rides And Attractions Are At Universal Studios Hollywood?
Though Universal Studios Hollywood is significantly smaller than Universal Studios Orlando there is still plenty for you to do and plenty of different rides to go on.
There is something for everyone from toddlers up to adults, if you like thrill rides or if you prefer shows there is plenty for everyone. Universal Studios Hollywood is more commonly known for 3D – 4D rides including Fast & Furious, Transformers Ride and King Kong 3D 360 Ride.
These are the largest of the rides at Universal Studios Hollywood and can often be the most popular with guests which makes the wait times longer compared to some of the other rides such as Minion Mayhem and the Kung Fu Panda Show.

Is There a Wizarding World Of Harry Potter At Universal Studios Hollywood?
There is a section at Universal Studios Hollywood dedicated to the Wizarding World of Harry Potter. Though unfortunately, it is much smaller than the one at Universal Studios Orlando.
There is still Harry Potter rides at Universal Studios Hollywood which are Harry Potter and the Forbidden Journey and Flight Of The Hippogriff. The only section available at Universal Studios Hollywood is Hogsmeade with the snow covered roof tops and quirky shops such as Olivanders.
You can also find 2 dining options at The Hogs Head and The Three Broomsticks along with a snack cart offering up a selection of delights and wizarding treats. You don’t have to miss out on shopping those as you can go anywhere from Olivanders, Honeydukes, Gladrags Wizardwear and Zonko’s Joke Shop and more.
Is Universal Studios Hollywood Worth It?
If you are visiting Los Angeles and Hollywood area specifically and enjoy anything from Fast & Furious, Harry Potter and Minions it is worth visiting.
If you are heading to Los Angeles and going to Anaheim for Disneyland and want to visit Universal Studios Hollywood, you might want to look at spending a night or two near Universal as to save time and money on driving and transport back and forth.
If you are looking to head to Universal Studios primarily for the Wizarding World of Harry Potter, I would personally hold off and save to go to Universal Studios Orlando instead as it is much bigger, more comprehensive and there is much more to see and do.
