How to Get From Sanford Airport to Universal Orlando

There are two ways you can travel the 31 miles from Sanford Airport to Universal Orlando:

  1. Taxi (inc Uber or Lyft)
  2. Hire Car

An Uber or Lyft is the best way to travel from Sanford Airport to the Universal Orlando Resort. However, hiring a car will be a better value for money if you plan to explore elsewhere in Orlando or beyond.

Either way, the journey from Sanford Airport to the Universal Orlando Resort takes 35 minutes.

Rideshare (Uber / Lyft)

There are three ways you can take a taxi from Sanford Airport to the Universal Orlando Resort;

  • Regular cabs waiting outside the airport
  • Rideshare services such as Uber or Lyft

A regular cab is typically more expensive than a rideshare such as Uber or Lyft. However, a regular taxi often sat there, ready to go. If you don’t want to wait around, then this is the option for you.

Meanwhile, a pre-booked transfer is ideal for 5+ people needing more than one taxi. These can be booked online in advance but typically cost more than a regular cab or an Uber.

For most people, the best way to get from Sanford Airport to Universal Orlando is in an Uber or Lyft. Both Uber and Lyft collect passengers from the ‘Rideshare Pickup Area’ outside the terminal.

An Uber or Lyft from Sanford Airport to the Universal Orlando Resort is around $60. However, both services use a dynamic pricing model. A dynamic pricing model means the price of an Uber or Lyft will differ depending on several factors, including:

  4. Pickup and drop-off location

Your Uber or Lyft driver will typically arrive in under 10 minutes. They will leave if you’re not in the vehicle within 5 minutes of arrival. As such, you should only order your rideshare once you have cleared immigration and collected your luggage.

Meanwhile, if Universal Orlando only makes up part of your Orlando vacation, then you may want to stay elsewhere. Kissimmee, International Drive and Lake Buena Vista are all within a 40-minute drive of Universal Orlando.
