Off the back of the success and popularity of the original Super Nintendo World in Japan which opened in 2021, Universal Studios will be opening a new Super Nintendo World in Orlando, Florida.
The Super Nintendo World in Orlando is set to be located inside Universal’s Epic Universe which currently has a scheduled opening date of 2025.
In this article, we’ll share what we know about Super Nintendo Land at the Universal Studios Orlando Resort so far.
As well as what we can expect based on the current Super Nintendo World in both Universal Studios Hollywood and Universal Studios Japan.
This article is being updated on a regular basis as new information is provided by Universal Studios. Be sure to bookmark it and check back for all the latest information.
What Is Super Nintendo World Orlando?
Super Nintendo World is a themed area, similar to that of The Wizarding World of Harry Potter within the wider Epic Universe theme park.
The area is set to look like Mushroom Kingdom, and will include immersive experiences, Mario-themed attractions, crazy dining locations, character meet-and-greets and a number of incredible rides.
Given that Super Nintendo World in Orlando is going to be located inside Epic Universe you will need a ticket to Epic Universe in order to visit.
When Is Super Nintendo World Orlando Opening?
Super Nintendo World in Orlando is set to open with the Epic Universe theme park in 2025.
However, for those looking to get a taste of Super Nintendo World earlier, you can head to Universal Studios in Osaka Japan or Universal Studios Hollywood in California where the land is already open and available to the public.
Where Will Super Nintendo World Be Located At Universal Orlando?
Super Nintendo World is going to be situated inside Universal’s new theme park, Epic Universe.
This theme park is set to be located east of Universal Boulevard and will be twice the size of Universal Studios Florida.
Rumour has it that Super Nintendo World will be accessed separately from the other ‘lands’ within the Epic Universe theme park.
However, tickets to Super Nintendo World will not be sold separately from that of Epic Universe. Instead, you’ll need to have a ticket for the Epic Universe theme park in order to enter Super Nintendo World.
Other lands rumoured to be included inside the Epic Universe theme park include;
- Harry Potter
- Star Trek
What Rides Are Going To Be At Super Nintendo World Orlando?
Three rides have been confirmed for Super Nintendo World in Orlando. They are;
Mario Kart Ride
Mario Kart (also known as Koopa’s Challenge at Universal Studios Japan) is an AR rollercoaster that provides a multisensory experience.
Riders are set to wear an AR headset and be able to choose from a range of popular Mario Kart video game characters.
During the ride, you’ll go through classic race tracks and throw virtual turtle shells at your fellow racers.
Donkey Kong Mine Cart Madness
The Donkey Kong Mine Cart Madness ride will be a fast-paced ‘boom coaster’ which allows riders to feel like they’re controlling when the cart ‘jumps’ over the tracks just like you do in the Donkey Kong games.
Universal Studios Japan plans to open a Donkey Kong ride in 2024 which will likely help us to know more about what to expect from the Donkey Kong ride in Orlando.
Yoshi Adventure
Yoshi Adventure is set to be a slower-moving train ride and treasure hunt, suitable for the whole family.
This train will travel around the Mushroom Kingdom at a height (similar to the High In The Sky Seuss Trolley Train Ride at Universal’s Islands of Adventure), allowing riders to take in the whole land and pick up some digital coins on their power-up bands.
What Are Super Nintendo World’s Interactivity Power-Up Bands?
Visitors will be able to purchase special wristbands known as ‘Power Up Bands’ when inside Super Nintendo World.
These bands come in four different styles; Mario, Luigi, Princess Peach, Yoshi and Toad and will allow you to interact with multiple objects around Super Nintendo World.
Interactive elements set to feature in Super Nintendo World Orlando include;
- Question Mark Blocks
- Mini Games
- Virtual Slot Machines
It’s also expected that all rides within Super Nintendo World Orlando will also have Power Up Band interactive features.
Once you collect coins and find hidden keys with your Power Up Band, you’ll be able to access a final battle. Right now it’s not confirmed who the final battle will be with. However, at Universal Studios Japan it’s against Bowser Jr.
What Restaurants Are Going To Be At Super Nintendo World Orlando?
It’s currently not confirmed what restaurants and snack carts are set to appear at Super Nintendo World Orlando.
However, based on Super Nintendo World at Universal Studios Hollywood and Universal Studios Japan we expect to see;
Toadstool Cafe
Toadstool Cafe is the only restaurant inside Super Nintendo World at Universal Studios in Japan and Hollywood. Therefore it’s somewhat of a given that it’s going to be inside the Super Nintendo World at Universal’s Epic Universe too.
From the outside, Toadstool Cafe is designed to look like Toad’s House and features a new-style combination of both quick-service and table-service elements. The decor inside Toadstool Cafe at both Universal Studios in Japan and Hollywood features a range of interactive elements which have been very well received by Universal and Mario fans alike, therefore I can’t see any reason why the designers would change anything about the architecture here.
When it comes to food served inside the restaurant, given that the Toadstool Cafe menu at Universal Studios in Japan and Hollywood is the same, it’s also likely that the food served at the Toadstool Cafe in Universal’s Epic Universe will be the same too.
This makes sense, since the food is American-Italian which appeals to a broad range of people with popular dishes at this restaurant including;
- The Mario Burger
- Yoshi’s Spinach Carbonara
- Piranha Plant Salad
- Teriyaki Chicken & Superstar Rice
Yoshi’s Snack Island
Yoshi’s Snack Island is a snack cart that appears at Universal Studios Japan and serves on-the-go food including; Yoshi Lassi’s, Red Shell Calzones and Green Shell Calzones.
Mario Cafe
Mario Cafe is a fun-filled casual restaurant that serves incredible dishes including; Mario’s Cap Strawberry Shortcake Pancake Sandwich or Luigi’s Cap Grape No-Bake Cheesecake Pancake Sandwich – inspired by Cappy from Mario Odyssey.
Drinks served here include Mario’s Fruity Italian Strawberry Cream Soda, which comes with a cute straw that has a cartoon Mario moustache attached.
A similar drink is also available from selected snack carts at Super Nintendo World inside Universal Studios Hollywood.
Pitstop Popcorn
This popcorn stand serves two different popcorn flavours in character buckets. These flavours are; sweet caramel peach and savoury cream mushroom.
What Characters Will You Be Able To Meet At Super Nintendo World Orlando?
They’ll be a number of opportunities to meet several popular characters from the Nintendo franchise inside Super Nintendo World.
Characters you can expect to see at Super Nintendo World Orlando include;
- Mario
- Luigi
- Princess Peach
- Yoshi
- Toad
- Bowser
What Stores Will Be Inside The Super Nintendo World Orlando?
While you’ll be able to purchase Super Nintendo World merchandise at Universal Studios on-site hotels and at CityWalk it’s likely that the largest range of Super Nintendo World products is going to be in stores located within Super Nintendo World.
As of right now the exact name and store design have yet to be revealed. However, based on products inside Super Nintendo World at Universal Studios Hollywood and Universal Studios Japan we can expect to see;
- T-Shirts
- Towels
- Hats
- Cushions
- Soft Toys
