Tokyo Disney Crowd Calendar

With over 17 Million people visiting Tokyo Disneyland Resort in Japan there is no surprise that crowds can build up. While many people will go in the when there are special events and holidays, that only allocates a small percentage of the year.

Not to mention that everyone in the world has different holidays, time off and different school calendars. With that in mind here is the 2018-2019 Tokyo Disney Crowd Calendar.

January

The start of the month is quite busy due to the New Year celebrations taking place. After the 7th the month is calmer and much easier to access as the Japanese are back in school and work. The Japanese have a winter break from school from the 26 December to the 6th January. The dates aren’t exact as it depends on the school itself and not the government. This month on the Tokyo Disney crowd calendar is fairly calm and so ride times should be short and not too much of a wait for food.

Weather :

The weather in January is very cold and is the start of the coldest month in Tokyo, Japan. The weather can drop as low as 2°C in the mornings. The weather throughout the day can reach as high as 8°C – 10°C. Be sure to pack a warm coat and a good pair of boots/shoes for the cold. As there is only expected to be 9 days of rain, it isn’t nessecary to have a waterproof but always better to be prepared.

Park Opening hours :

DisneySea – 8am/9am – 10pm

Disneyland – 8am/9am – 10pm

According to the Tokyo Disney Resort website, the day of the 1st is open from 2am – 10pm. This may be a slight fault or be open due to New Years Eve/Day Celebrations.

February

February is very quiet in the parks as many people are working and at school, it is also the coldest time of the year in Tokyo, Japan. The weather is quite cold and wet so can put off visitors. Though I haven’t found out any specific events going on in the parks I assume it isn’t a popular time to have any on.

Weather:

The weather in February is said to be very similar to January in terms of cold weather low temperatures and some rainy days. The lowest average again is 2°C and a highest of 10°C, there are also more rainy days so best to have a waterproof ready. The weather is actually similar to London in February if that helps anyone pack easier. The Tokyo Disney crowd calendar shows that the month is due to be quite quiet in terms of visitors as many may be put off by the weather and lack of events on.

March

March is a much more desirable time as the weather starts to change but only slightly. The parks again are quite quiet with more moderate crowds within the weeks and weekends being much busier. Towards the end of March into April there is a spring time holiday for schools. This may increase crowds towards the end of the month.

Weather:

The weather in March starts to pick up but not quite into t-shirt weather yet. The weather is still quite cool and so make sure you pack warm layers. The lowest temperature drops to 4°C and highs of 9°C, there are also 16 days of rain expected so make sure you pack waterproof clothing.

April

At the start of the month, schools are still on Spring break and will be returning back around the 6-7th of the month. The month shows quite moderate to busy weekends and easy calmer weekdays. As Tokyo Disney Resort isn’t far from the city centre compared to Paris or Orlando it is more accessible for people to visit on the weekends and evenings. Looking at the Tokyo Disney crowd calendar you can see that many people visit on a weekend making the queues longer and less chance of getting on all the rides.

Weather :

April is the turning point of the weather reaching as high as 17°C, this is quite a significant change. The evenings can still be quite cool and can drop down to 10°C so I would suggest packing a warmer layer still. The rain days are decreasing slightly in April but still expected throughout the month, with the end of the month being much drier.

Park Opening hours :

DisneySea – 9am – 10pm

Disneyland – 9am – 10pm

These dates are not completely certain as the website has not yet been updated for 2019 hours. Once they have been updated I will update the times.

May

May again is a simple month as it is quite quiet in terms of crowds. This is a month many tourists and travellers may flock to Japan to see the Cherry Blossom bloom. This may draw in a couple extra people but not much more to worry about. May is much nicer to visit as the weather is all around better and much more pleasant for spending days in the parks.

Weather :

May is a lovely time to visit Japan as Springtime brings out the beautiful colours of the cherry blossom. It is also a great time to visit as the weather reaches highs of 20°C making it much more pleasant to explore. The temperature drops to 14°C but sees a rise in rainy days to 16 again this month. I would suggest a light jacket or jumper for the evenings and cool mornings would be enough. I would still say to take a waterproof or even an umbrella for the showers.

Disneyland – 9am – 10pm

June

June is another month in which the Tokyo Disney crowd calendar is similar to previous. This is due to no official events been announced yet or any specific dates to be blocked out. This is just before the school holidays so it may be a nice time to visit.

Weather :

The weather in June is lovely and reaches a high of 24°C and lows of 18°C. The weather is said to be similar to Tenerife in June. June is the start of the six-week rainy season in Tokyo, Japan, expect showers and be prepared to get wet. This also means there is an increase in humidity along with the rainy season. You could pack a lightweight rain jacket or poncho to wear during the showers.

Disneyland – 9am – 10pm

June

July

July seems quite but I suspect this may change due to school holidays starting roughly around mid-July. There have been no confirmation of any special events or parades taking place in this month but will be updated as soon as possible.

Weather :

The rainy season continues into July and so the humidity increases with temperatures as high as 28°C. The lowest temperature in July is around 22°C. As the rainy days vary it is wise to pack extra clothes ot wear fast drying layers while out in the parks. The rain can come down in one big downpour or in lighter short showers.

August

August is still set to be another straightforward calm month but as schools have broken up for summer break I feel this may change. The Tokyo Disney crowd calendar is quiet and moderate in terms of expected guests but feel as it gets closer to the holidays this may change. I will update the calendar as it changes.

Weather :

August is sweltering hot and temperatures reach highs of 29°C, the high humidity and high temperatures make this time of year very uncomfortable for anyone who isn’t used to it. For this, I would suggest going to the parks early or later on in the day to make the most of the cooler hours. Also, breathable clothing to help keep you cool would help as you will sweat a lot.

September

September is a great time to visit Tokyo Disney resort, this was the time we visited and though the parks were busy, it wasn’t at all overwhelming. The queues for rides were what you would expect, as the more popular rides were long but otherwise everything was manageable. The heat and humidity can be a pain but on the normal cooler days, the park is much more enjoyable.

Weather :

Though typically September sees the decrease of the heat and humidity it also isn’t uncommon for the first 2 weeks to spike up to 30°C from 26°C. This month is also said to be the darkest and wettest of the months in Tokyo, Japan. Temperatures can drop as low at 20°C, there is plenty of chance of rain so I would still advise on a waterproof while visiting the parks.

October

October is a popular time for people to visit the parks. Tokyo Disney allows guests to dress up as a Disney character for Halloween from the end of Septemeber into October. There are certain rules but otherwise, this brings in a lot of fun, more guests and crowds of costumes. The park is much busier than the summer months and some days are completely packed of people. I haven’t found any specific events happening on these days but feel it is due to it being a Saturday/Sunday and many people out to celebrate Halloween.

Weather :

October starts off very similar to September, wet, dark and warm. By the end of the month, the temperatures start to cool. The month sees highs of 20°C and lows of 15°C. It isn’t so cool that the trees are turning but cool enough to warrant a light jacket or jumper. The humidity is also much cooler and makes October a great month to visit Tokyo. Within the Tokyo Disney crowd calendar, it shows that the middle of the week/ weekdays are much more accessible and much less crowded than the weekends.

November

November sees the start of the Christmas decorations, parades and parties. Though the temperature drops in November it is a nice time to visit for the festive time. I haven’t found an up to date schedule for parades and events going on in November and for Christmas so once they have been released I will add them on here.

Weather :

November is Autumn in Tokyo, Japan and so this the weather is bearable and lovely to explore Tokyo. The temperatures reach a high of 17°C and lows of 9°C, The rainfall is much less then previous months but is still expected around 12 days of the month. I would still wear something warm, waterproof and good pair of shoes.

December

Once again a cold month and so you will need to be wrapped up to enjoy a day in the park. There is Christmas parades and events on but no details have been released yet. The month on the Tokyo Disney crowd calendar starts off quite moderate and only gets busier towards the end of the month. This also leads us into New Years Eve/Day celebrations. This may have an impact on the crowds as they may hold an event at Tokyo Disney.

Weather :

December sees the temperatures drop as low as 4°C and highs of 12°C. The weather requires warm layers and good warm shoes. The month is much drier and cooler than previous, though you may still want your sunglasses as the sun shines brightly at this time of year. It is also expected to receive 9 days of rain so make sure you pack your waterproof coat. December is a magical time to visit Disney no matter where you are. The Tokyo Disney crowd calendar shows that if you are willing to go within the week days you can have a better chance of getting on all rides and shorter wait times.
