Universal Orlando’s Cinematic Celebration is the evening show at Universal Studios Florida and can be the ultimate conclusion to an incredible day at the Universal Studios Resort.

However, if you’ve never experienced this display previously, it’s important to know a couple of things to avoid disappointment.

Firstly, Universal Studios Florida doesn’t have a fireworks display similar to what you’d see at the Magic Kingdom at Walt Disney World. Instead, the evening show is a light & water display that takes place on the lagoon. While this display does contain some fireworks they are very limited.

It’s also worth noting that this display doesn’t take place every evening. As such you’ll want to go ahead and check the showtimes using the Universal Studios website or mobile application in advance.

Does Universal Studios Have Fireworks?

For the majority of the year, Universal Studios Florida runs an evening show ‘Universal Orlando’s Cinematic Celebration’.

This show contains a limited number of small fireworks. However, these fireworks are both very small and very limited in comparison to those at the Magic Kingdom at Walt Disney World.

The fireworks at Universal Studios are limited given the zoning laws as a direct result of the park’s location.

Zoning laws limit both the size and power of the pyrotechnics that can be used within the park.

Given that Disney owns Lake Beuna Vista, they are exempt from these laws and as such are able to use significantly more fireworks in both quantity and power.

The Universal Orlando’s Cinematic Celebration show (which contains a limited number of fireworks) takes place for the majority of the year.

What Time Are The Fireworks At Universal Studios?

Universal Orlando’s Cinematic Celebration takes place once an evening usually one hour before the park closes on the hour.

As such if the park closes at 10pm, the fireworks show usually takes place at 9pm – which is the case for the majority of the year.

During that time there are roughly 20 fireworks with the majority coming in the final minute of the performance.

From here you’ll not only get the best view of the fireworks but also the water and light display that takes place on the lagoon with the backdrop of Richter’s Burger Co.

Unlike Magic Kingdom, you do not need to begin reserving your place for the fireworks multiple hours in advance.

Instead, simply head to Central Park within 20 minutes of the show starting and you should be able to get a great viewing spot.

Does Islands of Adventure Have Fireworks?

Unlike Universal Studios, Islands of Adventure has no fireworks.

Instead, this park has an evening light show which runs repeatedly from dusk onto the backdrop of the Hogwarts Castle.

This show is known to change for different events throughout the year and lasts roughly 15 minutes.
