Where To Park In Newquay, Cornwall

On our first visit to Newquay, we drove from our home in Wakefield and used the town as a base to explore other Cornish towns such as St Ives and Padstow. However, little we didn’t know how difficult it would be to park while we were there.

Due to our b&b not having designated parking, we were left using local car parks, which were both stressful and difficult, to say the least. Coming back to the car parks in Newquay after a day out wasn’t something we looked forward to. However, the experience did provide us with a lot of useful information that we’re looking forward to sharing in this post.

Each car park in the list below has a bio with opening times, parking charges, local amenities and other notes. As a result, you should be able to find a car park near to where you’re visiting or staying while in Newquay.

Manor Road Car Park

Address: 24 St Michael’s Rd, Newquay TR7 1RA

Manor Road Car Park is very convenient for those looking to park and walk into town. It is centrally located and perfect for day visitors. The car park is a long stay car park and has 246 and is open 24 hours.

Parking is available overnight and is free from 4pm until 9am the next day. Parking charges range from £1.40/£1.60 for one hour up to £8.40 for 24 hours. There are changes within the parking charges depending on the time of year you visit.

There are several ways you can pay, from cash with coins and notes to card payments, apple pay and even through mobile phone, though we struggled with mobile reception so make sure you have a backup in case you struggle.

The car park is open to cars, small vans and motorcycles, though the car park is tight to manoeuvre and so if you require more space or you are a larger vehicle I would look at one of the others on the list. There is no sleeping or camping permitted within the car park.

Albany Road Car Park

Address: Albany Road, Newquay TR7 2NS

Albany Road car park is a smaller car park located off Tolcarne Road. It has 31 spaces, including disabled parking and is easier to access. It has no height restrictions so if you have a tall car or even a van you should be more suited to this car park.

Parking charges range from £1.60 for 1 hour up to £8.40 for 24 hours. Parking charges do not apply between 4pm, and 9am. Between the dates of 1st November until 31st March there is no charge for parking. There is no sleeping or camping permitted within the car park.

Atlantic Road Car Park

Atlantic Road car park has 300 or so spaces and is a large grass field. With a height restriction of 6ft (1.83m) and therefore may not be suitable for vans or cars with rooftop boxes. Due to its proximity to Fistral Beach (a 10-minute walk), you can often find that these 300 spaces have often filled up before 11am in peak season.

The Atlantic Road car park is also ideal for Newquay town centre, with the shops, activity centres and restaurants all just a short stroll away. This car park only accepts coins, mobile payments, or you can pay through the JustPark App.

There’s also a height restriction of 6ft 10in (2.083m). As such, I would only suggest parking here if you’re in a small car or a very confident driver.

Motorcycles can park for free, provided they do not use a car parking space. If a car parking space is used, then regular parking charges will apply. There is disabled parking available and will be charged at the same rate as regular car parking.
