Taxi

⏱️ Time: 20 – 25 minutes
💵 Cost: €35

The easiest and quickest way to reach Playa Del Ingles from Gran Canaria Airport is by taxi. The taxi rank is located just outside the main terminal building and is well-signposted.

Given the popularity of Gran Canaria Airport, taxis are often ready although there may be a short queue. Then, depending on the day and time, the journey from the airport over to Playa Del Ingles will take between 20 to 25 minutes.

Taxis in Gran Canaria run on a metre, as such the price of the journey is calculated based on the duration and distance travelled. During our most recent visit to Playa Del Ingles (May 2023), a one-way trip from the airport cost €35. However, the exact cost will vary depending on your exact location within the town.

Typically, you’ll find that taxi drivers don’t carry travel car seats for babies, toddlers and young children. As such, if you’re travelling with children you’ll need to book a private transfer, hire car or use public transport instead.

Meanwhile, if you’re travelling as a large family then it’s worth noting that standard airport taxis only seat four people. While you may find minibuses at the taxi rank, the availability is not always guaranteed. As such you may find yourself having to travel in two taxis. Subsequently, it’s often cheaper (and easier) for large families and groups to make a private transfer reservation in advance instead.

Unlike other areas in Spain, there’s no ride-hailing app such as Uber or Bolt on the island of Gran Canaria. Instead, all the taxis here run on a meter, and not at a fixed rate. For the distance, you’re looking at a price of around €35.

Hire Car

⏱️ Time: 20 – 25 minutes
💵 Cost: €15 per day (hire car only)
💻 Book Hire Car: Discover Cars

Best Place To Rent A Car In Gran Canaria

Discover Cars compares car rental deals from more than 500 partners so that you can choose which is best for your trip.

Gran Canaria benefits from a number of car rental companies including; Avis, Europcar, and Hertz and so while you’ll often be able to pick a car up upon your arrival in Gran Canaria, it’s often cheaper and easier to reserve your car rental in advance.

The car rental companies are located within the main terminal and are well-signposted but often have somewhat of a queue – especially during peak travel times.

When returning your hire car, make sure to get to Gran Canaria Airport with plenty of time as there may be a short wait.

How much you pay for a hire car will depend on a number of factors, including the company you hire from, the car type you wish to hire, additional drivers, insurance etc. During the low season, you may be able to pick a car up for as little as €5 per day, however, €20 per day is often the average.

Private Airport Transfer

⏱️ Time: 20 – 25 minutes
💵 Cost: €25 – 45
💻 Reserve Transfer: Hoppa

Your other option is to organise an airport transfer in advance. Typically, these will cost the same as a taxi, but they’re even more convenient.

Instead of heading straight to the taxi rank and waiting in line, you’ll often be met in the arrivals hall (or just outside) by your shuttle provider. Sometimes, hotels even offer this service, and you can contact them in advance to check.

If you’re travelling as a large group or you need special equipment such as a child seat, then you’ll want to book a private transfer. Prices vary depending on how many people there are and which type of vehicle you opt for but expect to pay between €25-45.

The bonus of booking an airport transfer in advance means that you’ll know exactly how much it’s going to cost. As taxis are metered, they don’t offer the same luxury. When it comes to finding a reputable company that offers private transfers in a foreign country we use Hoppa which compares multiple companies including prices and reviews.

Like with a taxi, you’ll be dropped off right at your hotel door, so there’s no trekking around with your luggage. In fact, many hotels offer this service so it’s worth taking a look at their prices first.
