Deciding how much spending money to take to Florida can be hard. Most Florida budgets are often vague and don’t account for travel styles or family sizes.
That’s why I’ve put together this free Florida spending money calculator that’s customisable to your trip. This calculator is based on my own family trips to Florida and has been updated with 2026 prices. It even shows the price in dollars and pounds side by side.

How Much Spending Money You Need for Florida
For a mid-range trip, budget about $100 to $125 (£75 to £95) per adult per day, and roughly 60% of that for each child. That doesn’t include flights, hotels or park tickets but it does cover:
- Food
- Snacks
- Souvenirs
- Getting around
- Couple of Extras
In my experience the three things that move your spending money budget more than anything else are:
- Where you are: Orlando park days are the most expensive, Miami sits just behind on food and parking. The Gulf beaches are typically much cheaper.
- How you eat: A quick service meal costs about $38 (£28) per person while a sit-down meal is closer to $88 (£65) once you add US tips.
- Park days: Tickets aside, a day inside the theme parks adds souvenirs, snacks and premium food that a beach day typically doesn’t.
Here’s what a mid-range trip, eating a mix of quick service and sit-down often comes to.

What to Budget For on a Florida Holiday
Here are the six categories you’ll need to budget for on a trip to Florida:
- Food & Drink: Expect to spend around $14 (£10) for a quick service main, $6 (£4.50) for a snack or soft drink and $45 (£33) for a sit-down meal.
- Transport: Hire cars are often cheap but the cost of running them isn’t. Hotel and theme park parking can range from $20 to $50 (£15 to £37) a night while tolls are an additional expense on long drives.
- Theme Park Tickets: These are a larger one-off expense rather than a daily one which is why I’ve had the calculator keep them separate. Multi day park tickets run roughly $120 to $150 (£89 to £111) per person per day.
- Souvenirs & Extras: A souvenir T shirt is about $35 (£26), a popcorn bucket around $28 (£21).
- Tips & Tax: Expect to pay an 18% to 20% tip on a sit down meal. Florida sales tax of 6.5% to 7.5% is added at the till and not shown on the shelf price.
- Buffer: I often add around $100 (£75) per person per trip for unplanned expenses. I’d rather have it budgeted and not use it than be caught out.
Spending Money by Part of Florida
One of the biggest reasons I see people’s Florida budget go wrong is that they treat the whole state as a single place.
In reality how much you spend doing things in Jacksonville will be very different to Orlando and where you spend your money in Orlando (inside theme parks) will likely be different to where you’ll spend your money in Miami (restaurants).
- Orlando & the theme parks: Park food carries a premium, souvenirs are everywhere, and it’s easy to add a paid extra like an Express Pass.
- The Gulf Coast beaches: Clearwater, Siesta Key and St Pete can be very affordable. Condos with kitchens make food cheaper and the beaches are free.
- Miami: The cost is closer to that of Orlando but the money goes on restaurants, nightlife and parking rather than express passes and souvenirs.
I regularly travel to both Orlando and Miami on a trip to Florida so I’ve built the calculator with this in mind. The road trip setting will blend prices and increase the driving budget to account for the extra miles.

How much spending money do I need for two weeks in Florida?
For a mid-range Orlando trip, budget around $3,900 (£2,900) for a couple and $5,900 (£4,400) for a family of four, before park tickets. Beach-based trips come in lower, roughly $3,000 (£2,215) for a couple.
Is $100 a day enough for Florida?
For an adult on a beach or quieter trip, yes, comfortably. On full theme park days $100 is tight once premium food, snacks and a souvenir are in, so budget $125 to $150 (£95 to £110) for those days.
How much spending money for a family of four in Florida?
Around $425 (£315) a day for a mid-range Orlando trip covering food, getting around and extras, before tickets. That’s roughly $2,970 (£2,200) a week. Beach trips run closer to $320 (£237) a day.
Should I take dollars or use a card in Florida?
Both. A fee-free card handles most spending and gets the best rate, but carry some cash for tips, small vendors and valet. Tell your bank you’re travelling so the card isn’t blocked.
Does the calculator include theme park tickets?
Only if you switch them on. By default it shows pure spending money so you can see the on-the-ground cost, then you can add park days and ticket prices to get an all-in figure.
