Can You Visit Cyprus Year-Round?
This blog post features links and information which have been obtained on a press trip. However, as always, all opinions shared in this post are my own.
I’ve just returned from an incredible five-night break to Cyprus with Jet2holidays. This was my first visit to Cyprus in over 30 years. Yes, that makes me feel old. But for those doing the math, yes, I last visited Cyprus when I was just two years old.
As such, I had no idea what to expect from Cyprus. But I left pleasantly surprised and already planning a return trip.
Cyprus is a popular destination for UK holidaymakers, attracting around 1.2 million Brits annually. However, the vast majority visit during the summer between June and the end of August.
However, you can visit Cyprus year-round and enjoy relatively good weather.
In the summer, daytime temperatures in Cyprus range between 30°C to 40°C. Meanwhile, temperatures in the winter drop to between 10°C and 17°C. This makes Cyprus perfect for those searching for winter sun holidays.
I visited Cyprus in the middle of February and comfortably wore shorts every day of my trip.
One benefit to visiting Cyprus in the winter months is fewer tourists. This means that flights and hotel prices are typically cheaper, and getting into attractions is quick and easy.
My flights to Paphos were with Jet2. The airline currently flys to Paphos from:
- Belfast
- Birmingham
- Bristol
- East Midlands
- Edinburgh
- Glasgow
- Leeds Bradford
- London Stansted
- Manchester
- Newcastle
Flights from London Stansted Airport are often the cheapest and operate several times a week year-round. Meanwhile, flights from the UK to Paphos in Cyprus take around 4.5 hours.
I stayed at the Constantinou Bros Athena Royal Beach Hotel during my visit to Cyprus. This is a four-star, adults-only hotel that benefits from:
- Three outdoor swimming pools
- One indoor pool
- Fitness center
- Spacious rooms
- Complimentary towels
The central location of this hotel makes it ideal for those looking to explore Paphos on foot or the surrounding areas of the city in a hire car.
If you’re lucky with the weather, then you should be able to sunbathe when visiting Cyprus in winter. However, on days when you can’t, there are plenty of other things you can do here instead, including:
- Jeep Safaris
- Historical Tours
- Hikes
- Scuba Diving
During my trip to Cyprus, I took a 3-hour hike along the Aphrodite nature trail in Akamas. While I could have taken this hike during a trip to Cyprus in the summer, the heat and humidity would have made it incredibly difficult.
Instead, I was grateful that I’d chosen to do this when visiting Cyprus in winter when the weather was slightly cooler. What I’m trying to say is that many activities in Cyprus can be better in winter than in summer.
