How to Get From Cebu to Coron (Quickest & Cheapest!)

Cebu and Coron are two islands in the Philippines, popular with tourists. You can travel between Cebu and Coron in two ways:

• Plane
• Ferry

The best way to travel from Cebu to Coron is by plane. Flying between Cebu and Coron takes around 1.5 hours and costs around 2,000 PHP per person, one-way.

While taking a ferry from Cebu to Coron requires transferring in Manila. The total travel time is at least 35 hours, and the ferry costs around 1,800 PHP per person, one-way.

The quickest way to travel from Cebu to Coron is by plane. The flight takes around 1 hour 20 minutes, and you can buy one-way tickets for as little as 2,000 pesos.

Cebgo and Philippine Airlines offer direct flights between Cebu and Coron several times daily. Both airlines use Mactan-Cebu International Airport in Cebu and Busuanga Airport in Coron.

Since Cebu is such a major city, travelling to Mactan-Cebu Airport is quick and easy. However, Busuanga Airport is a little more challenging.

Busuanga Airport is the only airport on Coron Island, a 25-minute drive from Coron Town Proper. Given the distance, there are no habal-habals or taxis available.

Instead, there are two ways to travel from Busuanga Airport to Coron Town Proper:

1. Take a shared shuttle from outside the airport for 150 pesos per person. These shuttles are regularly available and leave once they are full. The shuttle will take you directly to your hotel in Coron Town.
2. Book a private transfer. I recommended doing this online in advance.

There are no direct ferries between Cebu and Coron. Instead, to travel between Cebu and Coron by ferry, you must go via Manila, the Philippines’ capital.

This transfer makes the ferry journey from Cebu to Coron at least 35 hours long.

The journey from Cebu to Manila takes 22 hours, while the trip from Manila to Coron takes a further 13 hours. Both ferry journeys must be booked separately and can be done online with 2GO Travel.

Since you must book your ferry journeys separately, you could opt for a few days’ layover in Manila. Alternatively, you could fly from Cebu to Manila before taking the ferry from Manila to Coron.

Sometimes, a flight or long layover may not be an option but a necessity. That’s because the 2GO ferry schedule changes monthly depending on tourist demand. As a result, if you’re travelling from Cebu to Coron in the off-season, you may find only one or two ferries per week.
