Situated just 10 miles from Miami International Airport, Brickell is becoming an increasingly popular neighbourhood for tourists to both visit and stay in during a trip to Miami. A hub for the arts, and home to numerous museums, performing arts centres, and other venues.
The best way to travel from Miami International Airport (MIA) to Brickell is by using a rideshare service such as Uber or Lyft. The journey takes between 15 and 25 minutes depending on traffic and costs between $20 to $25.
Alternatively, if you’re travelling on a budget then you could opt for travelling between the two locations using public transport. The journey will take a little longer at roughly 35 – 45 minutes and require transferring but will cost significantly less at roughly $2.65 per person.
Rideshare
⏱️ Time: 15 – 25 minutes
💵 Cost: $20 – $25
💻 Reserve Rideshare: Lyft
Using a rideshare service like Uber or Lyft is one of the easiest ways to get from Miami International Airport to Brickell. You can download either of these apps before your arrival in Miami and once you’ve arrived at the airport, use the app to book a ride. Given the popularity of the airport as a pick-up and drop-off location, you typically don’t have to wait more than five minutes for your driver to arrive.
Depending on traffic, the drive from Miami Airport to Brickell takes around 15 to 25 minutes and since both Uber and Lyft work on a dynamic pricing model the price will range from $20 to $25 depending on the duration and demand for the platform in the area.
Rideshare pickup zones at Miami International Airport are located just outside of the terminal on the arrivals floor (Level 1). When you go to select to be picked-up from the airport you’ll be asked to select your terminal and doors.
While both applications use GPS to find the nearest pick-up location, it’s worth double checking the location just to be sure. In our case we opted to be picked up from Terminal E Arrivals – Door 9-10 Lower.
Once you head out into the concourse you’ll be able to check the location you provided the driver on Uber or Lyft with those both inside the terminal and outside the terminal (on the pillars)
Taxi
⏱️ Time: 12 minutes
💵 Cost: $15 – $50
💻 Reserve Taxi: Hoppa
Taxi stands are located outside of the arrivals floor (Level 1) at Miami Airport and are able to take you to Brickell. However, unlike rideshare services such as Uber and Lyft, these taxis run on a metre with the minimum fare being $15 and the total cost to Brickell costing $50 on average.
For a long time I’ve been told that Uber and Lyft is significantly cheaper when compared to traditional taxis. However, I’ve never tested that theory for myself and wanted to do just that during a trip to Miami – and it’s safe to say, nobody was lying when they told me that!
A journey estimated to cost me just $22 with Lyft cost over $60 with a metered taxi just like this one from Miami Cruise Port to Miami Airport. So while the temptation of jumping straight into a cab after a long flight is often incredibly high, personally, I don’t think the extra costs are worthwhile.
Hire Car
⏱️ Time: 15 – 25 minutes
💵 Cost: $30 – $50

One final way to get from Miami International Airport to Brickell is with a private car service. You can arrange a private car pickup in advance of your arrival at the airport (I recommend using the price comparison website Hoppa) Private cars pick up on the arrivals floor (Level 1) of the airport outside the baggage claim area.
The cost of a private car service can be as low as $20, making it comparable to an Uber, Lyft, or taxi. However, you will need to book a private car in advance, as opposed to being able to arrange a ride on the spot like you can with a rideshare app or a taxi.

If you have a large group, then booking a private shuttle can be more cost-effective than hiring multiple Ubers, Lyfts, or taxis.
