The Miami neighbourhood of Brickell is 10 miles from Miami International Airport. There are three ways to travel between these two locations:
The best way to get from Miami Airport to Brickell is to take an Uber or Lyft. The journey takes between 15 and 25 minutes, depending on traffic, and costs between $20 and $25.
Taxi (inc Uber & Lyft)
⏱️ Time: 15 – 25 minutes
💵 Cost: $20 – $25
There are three ways you can take a taxi from Miami International Airport to Brickell:
- Traditional Taxi
- Uber
- Lyft
Traditional taxis are convenient as they are ready and waiting outside on the arrivals floor (Level 1). However, these taxis run on a meter with a minimum fare of $15. As such, a traditional taxi from Miami International Airport to Brickell costs around $50.
In contrast, rideshare services such as Uber and Lyft from Miami Airport to Brickell cost between $20 and $25.
Both Uber and Lyft can pick up and drop off passengers at Miami International Airport. As such, which rideshare service you should take will depend on two things:
- Price
- Duration
Uber and Lyft both work on a dynamic pricing model. A dynamic pricing model means the price you’re charged for the exact same journey will depend on the demand and number of drivers.
As such, I suggest downloading and setting up both Uber and Lyft. This way, you can compare wait times and prices in real time.
There are several pick-up points for Uber and Lyft at Miami Airport. You can select the one nearest to you using GPS. However, GPS struggles with floors. I therefore recommend going outside to the concourse and double-checking the location.

However, the cost of a rental car isn’t the only thing you’ll need to consider when hiring a car in Miami. Instead, you’ll also need to think about:

- Additional insurance
These extra costs can double, if not triple, the price of a rental car. As such, I would only suggest getting a rental car instead of an Uber if you plan to drive a lot during your trip.
To collect a hire car at Miami Airport, you’ll need to head to the Rental Car Center. The Rental Car Center is at Miami Airport’s Central Station. To get to the Rental Car Center from the terminal building, you must take the MIA Mover train from Level 3 between the Dolphin and Flamingo garages.
Hire cars are also to be returned to the Rental Car Center. So be sure to arrive at Miami International Airport with plenty of time to commute to the main terminal building.
