Helen and I visit Scarborough at least once a year. It’s where Helen went to University, so alongside strolling along the beachfront and pushing coins into machines to win cuddly toys, we also hang out with old friends and attend university social gatherings.
However, one part of our trip always causes us a headache, and that’s parking!
Finding out where to park in Scarborough (especially during summer school holidays, weekends, and bank holidays) can sometimes take you an hour and cause you a lot of stress.
It’s certainly not what you want when starting a day or long weekend at the seaside.
In this post, we’ve decided to put together the best places to park in reference to where you’re planning on staying or visiting during your time in the seaside town.
Scalby Mills Car Park

Scalby Mills is the most northern car park in Scarborough town and is located just next to the Sea Life Centre and Scarborough North Cliff Golf Club. There are 170 standard car parking spaces and an additional 11 disabled car parking spaces here.
The cost of parking ranges from £2.20 for one hour to £9.00 for 24 hours. Discounts are available for residents of Scarborough City Council.

Located between Luna Park and Scarborough Harbour is Quay Street car park. This 24-hour car park only has 39 spaces and two additional disabled car parking spaces but is conveniently located.
If it’s full, we suggest going to the nearby West Pier car park (Foreshore Road, Scarborough, YO11 1PB), which is open 24 hours a day and has an additional 118 standard spaces and three disabled spaces.
The cost of parking ranges from £1.80 for one hour to £9.00 for 24 hours. Discounts are available for residents of Scarborough City Council.
South Bay Underground Car Park
Address: Foreshore Road, Scarborough, YO11 2HD
This underground car park is perfect for those looking to visit the South Bay in Scarborough. South Bay is more popular for tourists than North Bay, so you’ll probably find that the spaces in this area fill up quicker than other parking locations listed above.

St Nicholas Parade Car Park

Uphill from the beach towards the town are two small car parks. The first St Nicholas Parade car park and the second one street across are Falconers Road (Falconers Road, Scarborough, YO11 2EN). Together these car parks have a capacity of 38 with three additional disabled bays.

Spa Drive Car Park
Address: Foreshore Road, Scarborough, YO11 2HD
Away from the promenade along the beachfront heading towards Scarborough Spa is the Spa Drive car park. This car park has 33 car parking spaces and no disabled bays.
If you’re looking for a disabled bay here, we recommend driving along to Spa Forecourt car park (Foreshore Road, Scarborough, YO11 2HD). Parking charges are only applicable here from 9am until 6pm; however, the car park is open 24 hours a day.

Hi guys, great information, thank you. Just wondering would you know if it’s ok to park a car for up to 9 days?? We are walking The Cleveland Way and want to leave our car at Scarborough for when we’ve finished! And which car park would you recommend? Thanks for your time. Have fun on your adventures Becca & Kerry
Hi Becca and Kerry, in that case I’d recommend looking into JustPark. Just for the added security that parking somewhere like that could bring 🙂
If i pay for a day ticket in the car park next to the Sea Life Centre can I park elsewhere in Scarborough using the same ticket?
For instance along Marine Drive or in the south bay underground car park.
Typically, tickets you purchase will have the car park location on them. As such you won’t be able to use the same ticket at a different car park (even if the council own both locations). Instead, you’ll sadly need to purchase a separate ticket 🙁
