Center Parcs in the School Holidays: Is It Worth the Premium Price?
Center Parcs pricing during school holidays is, frankly, frustrating. The same lodge, the same duration, the same site — and you can easily end up paying three to five times more simply because it falls in half term or the summer holidays.
Having visited Center Parcs more than ten times, including during school holidays and outside them, I understand the frustration.
A four-night stay in a standard two-bedroom lodge that costs around £429 in term time can jump to over £1,400 for the exact same dates the following week during half term. And yet, I still think school holidays can be the best time to visit Center Parcs.
Why Are School Holiday Prices So Much Higher?
Center Parcs uses dynamic pricing, meaning that prices change based on demand. During school holidays, demand spikes dramatically because families with school-age children have no other choice. Center Parcs knows this, and prices accordingly.

The price gap varies by school holiday. Summer is typically the most expensive, followed by Christmas and New Year, Easter and May half term. October and February half terms tend to be slightly cheaper within the school holiday pricing tier, though still significantly more expensive than term time.

Thankfully there are several ways you can save money on a trip to Center Parcs. Even during the school holidays. For example, schools in different areas break up at slightly different times.
What Actually Changes During School Holidays?
Nothing. There’s no additional entertainment or activities at Center Parcs during the school holidays.

However, the village will be busier. So the pool will be more crowded, activities will sell out earlier (especially popular time slots) and table reservations at restaurants will fill up more quickly. None of this makes Center Parcs a bad experience — but it is a different one to a quiet midweek term-time break.
Is It Worth the Premium?
Despite being three to five times more expensive, I still think Center Parcs is worth visiting during the school holidays.

The strongest argument for paying the school holiday premium is simple — if you have school-age children, you often have no choice. And within that constraint, Center Parcs genuinely solves a real problem.
Entertaining children during the eight-week summer break in particular is exhausting. My birthday falls in the third week of the summer holidays, and we’ve found that a Center Parcs break around that time naturally divides the time in two.

The summer holidays are also when Center Parcs is at its best. The outdoor activities, the beach, the BBQ on the patio, cycling through the forest on a warm morning — these are experiences that are uniquely good at this time of year and justify more of the premium than half-term visits do.
When is the Best School Holiday to Visit?
Summer (late July to August): Summer offers the best experience but is also the most expensive. The outdoor spaces are at their peak and the longer days mean more time to fill. Worth the premium if you can book early.
May half term: A good balance. The weather is improving, prices are below summer levels, and the outdoor activities are starting to come into their own. A solid choice if summer is too expensive.
October half term: The forest is beautiful in autumn and the site is slightly less busy than summer. Prices are lower than summer and Easter. A good option for families who want a quieter experience.
Easter: Busy and expensive. Similar pricing to summer but without the outdoor summer bonus. Harder to justify than May half term, which often follows just a few weeks later at a lower price.
Christmas: The Winter Wonderland period transforms the site with light installations and festive atmosphere, which is genuinely special. Prices are among the highest of the year but the experience is meaningfully different to a standard break — worth it if the festive setting is the draw.
February half term: The most expensive half term relative to what you get. Cold weather limits the outdoor activities and the price spike from term time is significant. The hardest school holiday to justify unless a winter break specifically appeals.
