Center Parcs for Large Groups & Family Reunions

Center Parcs is a fantastic choice for getting a large group together in the UK. The range of activities for all ages make it a better option than an Airbnb and the self-catering lodges make it easier to manage than a hotel.

We’ve done several large group trips to Center Parcs — most notably a trip with my wife’s extended family, 8 adults and 4 children across two generations, all staying in neighbouring lodges, and a hen do with a group of six.

Both trips took more planning than expected — particularly around:

  • Deciding who stays with who in each lodge
  • Coordinating activities that work for all ages and abilities
  • Where to eat when eating out & which lodge to cook at when dining in
  • Making sure the lodges are close enough that the kids can move freely between them

However, all of this is completely manageable with the right amount of preparation.

Accommodation & Logistics

Getting the accommodation right is the single most important decision for a large group visit. Two things matter most: the type of lodge and the location of lodges relative to each other.

6-Bedroom Woodland Lodges

This is the only type of accommodation that’s able to sleep up to 12 people. Available at:

  • Whinfell
  • Sherwood
  • Elveden
  • Woburn

The fully equipped kitchen makes self-catering straightforward and this is the most cost-effective option for groups of 10 to 12. For groups larger than 12, booking multiple lodges is the standard approach.

Pay the Lodge Preference Fee

This is non-negotiable for large groups. Without it, Center Parcs allocates lodges automatically and there’s no guarantee they’ll be near each other.

Center Parcs villages are huge, so you could easily end up with lodges a 30-minute walk apart, making spontaneous group time almost impossible, particularly with young children in the evenings.

Lodge Dynamics

Before you book, make sure you have the lodge dynamics conversation early. You’ll want to agree:

  • Who is staying in which lodge
  • How many lodges you need
  • Where communal meals will be hosted

It’s also worth agreeing the cost-splitting method at this stage. This could be:

  • Equal split per adult
  • Equal split per family unit
  • Equal split per person, including children

Trying to sort either of these things after booking causes unnecessary friction, particularly when families have different budgets and different ideas about how much private space they want.

Groups of 10+

Center Parcs offers a dedicated personal event planner for groups of 10 or more. These planners help:

  • Coordinate accommodation
  • Organise group activities
  • Make restaurant bookings

They can also arrange private group sessions for activities like paintballing and tree trekking. Contact Center Parcs directly after booking to make use of this service.

Activities for Mixed Ages

One of the biggest draws to Center Parcs for large groups is the activity range. There’s enough variety that different members of the group can do their own thing and reconvene afterwards, without anyone feeling left out.

Activities for All Ages

The best activities for all ages and abilities include:

  • The Subtropical Swimming Paradise: Unlimited entry is included with every break and works for all ages, from toddlers in the shallow areas to adults on the slides.
  • Ten Pin Bowling: Easy to book, works for all ages and naturally competitive in a way that brings a group together.
  • Crazy Golf: Relaxed, flexible and easy to manage across different ability levels.
  • Cycling: The car-free trails work well for mixed-age groups, particularly if younger children have balance bikes or ride in trailers.

Activities for Different Interests

Center Parcs also has a range of activities for different interests:

  • Aqua Sana Spa: A fantastic option for adults wanting time away from the children while other group members cover childcare.
  • Aerial Tree Trekking, Zip Wire and Paintball: Best suited to older children and adults.
  • Pottery Painting and Nature Activities: Great for younger children and anyone wanting something less physical.

Food & Dining

Feeding a large group at Center Parcs requires some planning. On-site restaurants can accommodate groups but popular ones fill up quickly, particularly on Friday and Saturday evenings, so it’s worth booking in advance.

A mix of eating out and self-catering tends to work best. One or two group restaurant meals gives the trip a focal point, while self-catering for other meals keeps costs down and is more practical with young children.

Be sure to stock up at a supermarket before you arrive. While the on-site ParcMarket has all the essentials, it’s very expensive.

Some restaurants offer private dining for larger groups, which is worth asking about when booking if you’re celebrating a birthday or special occasion.

Planning & Booking Tips

  • Book as early as possible: Large group bookings requiring multiple lodges in close proximity sell out well in advance.
  • Use the personal event planner: For groups of 10 or more, Center Parcs offers dedicated support.
  • Coordinate activity bookings in advance: Agree a rough itinerary of activities in advance so you’re ready to book when the 12 week window opens.
  • Have one person do the bookings: Activity bookings, restaurant reservations and lodge logistics are much easier to manage with a single point of contact.
  • Accept that the group will split up: The best large group Center Parcs trips work because everyone has the freedom to do their own thing and come back together for shared meals and evenings.
