Center Parcs for a Hen Party: Complete Guide

Hen parties are not officially allowed at Center Parcs. The company’s policy explicitly prohibits hen and stag groups in order to protect the experience for other guests.

In practice, however, thousands of groups visit every year for low-key hen weekends without any issue. My wife did exactly this last year — a small group, spa day booked, lodge stocked with prosecco — and it was one of the best weekends away she’s ever had.

For groups who are respectful and considerate, Center Parcs can be an outstanding choice — particularly for brides who aren’t looking for a nightclub-focused weekend, those with a mixed-age group, or anyone who wants something more memorable than a standard city break.

Location

There are five Center Parcs villages in the UK:

  1. Sherwood Forest, Nottinghamshire: The most central village and the easiest for groups travelling from different parts of England.
  2. Elveden Forest, Suffolk: The best pick for groups based in East Anglia, and the only village with cable water skiing.
  3. Longleat Forest, Wiltshire: The most scenic of the five villages, and the natural choice for groups in the South West.
  4. Whinfell Forest, Cumbria: Best suited to groups travelling from the North West or Scotland, and typically the most affordable of the five.
  5. Woburn Forest, Bedfordshire: Just an hour from London, making it the obvious choice for groups based in the capital.

Accommodation

For hen parties, the accommodation choice matters more than it might for a standard family break. Here are the main options worth considering:

6-Bedroom Woodland Lodges: The only accommodation sleeping up to 12 people, available at Whinfell, Sherwood, Elveden and Woburn. The fully equipped kitchen makes self-catering straightforward, which helps keep costs down.

Exclusive Lodges: Four-bedroom lodges sleeping up to 8, all with a private hot tub, sauna, steam room and games room with pool table. A worthwhile upgrade for a hen weekend — the hot tub gives the group a private social space without needing to go out.

Treehouses: Four-bedroom luxury lodges with a private outdoor hot tub and games den. Availability is very limited so they book up quickly, but worth considering for a smaller group wanting something special.

Multiple Lodges: For larger groups splitting across two or more lodges, you can pay a lodge preference fee to ensure they’re located close together — so the group can move freely between lodges in the evening.

If you’re making a booking for a group of 10 or more people, or staying in a Treehouse, Center Parcs will ask you to fill out a form during the booking process.

Activities

The huge range of on-site activities is one of the major benefits to a hen do at Center Parcs. Popular options include:

  • Aerial Tree Trekking
  • Laser Combat
  • Archery
  • Quad Biking
  • Watersports — including paddle boarding, kayaking and pedalos

These tend to work well even for groups where not everyone is particularly sporty, as the competitive element makes them fun regardless of ability.

The golden rule with all Center Parcs activities is to book early. Popular slots sell out well in advance, especially for weekend breaks, and the booking window opens 12 weeks before your arrival date.

The Spa (Aqua Sana)

Every village has its own Aqua Sana Forest Spa, where you can explore up to 25 thermal and nature-inspired spa experiences, with individual treatments such as facials, massages and body wraps available to book on top at an additional cost.

The spa is also where Center Parcs’ behaviour policy is most likely to come into play. The thermal areas are designed for quiet relaxation, and a loud group will be asked to keep the volume down — or in some cases asked to leave.

Having been to Center Parcs more than ten times, I’ve found that the spa is always significantly better in the evening. It’s quieter, the atmosphere is more relaxed and you’re typically not sharing the thermal areas with as many people.

The Subtropical Swimming Paradise

Unlimited entry into the Subtropical Swimming Paradise is included in the cost of any Center Parcs break. However, for a hen group, it’s worth considering hiring a private cabana. These are suitable for up to eight people and include:

  • Complimentary soft drinks
  • TV
  • Loungers
  • Towels

Food and drink from the poolside bar can also be ordered directly to the cabana.

A cabana gives the group a dedicated base within the Subtropical Swimming Paradise and is well worth the extra cost for a special occasion. As with the spa, the pool is noticeably quieter in the evenings once younger children have gone to bed.

Evening Entertainment

With no nightclub at Center Parcs the lodge will likely be the social centrepiece of the evenings.

Popular options include a DIY cocktail or prosecco night, hen party games, a pamper evening with face masks, or simply good food and a film – and if you’re in an Exclusive Lodge with a hot tub, you’ll likely spend a good portion of the weekend in it.

With that in mind, some things you might want to add to your Center Parcs packing list include: a Bluetooth speaker, card or board games, cocktail ingredients (far cheaper than buying in the village), and any hen-specific props or games you want to keep out of public areas.

Costs

When you factor in accommodation, activities, food and drink, a weekend hen party at Center Parcs will typically cost between £300 and £500 per person — though it can be done for significantly less with careful planning, or considerably more with premium accommodation and a packed activity schedule.

Accommodation is the single biggest cost of a Center Parcs break and varies significantly by lodge type, village, time of year, and whether you book a weekend or midweek break.

As a rough guide, a weekend break in a standard Woodland Lodge sleeping 8 – 10 people will typically cost somewhere between £800 and £2,000+ depending on the village and season — meaning roughly £100–£250 per person before anything else.

Activities are where costs can add up fast. A spa day at Aqua Sana, a group activity, and a couple of restaurant meals can easily take an individual’s spend to £150 – £200 on top of accommodation.

The cost of food and drink will depend on how much you self-cater versus eat out. Bringing your own food and alcohol for lodge evenings is one of the most effective ways to keep costs down — the on-site supermarket is expensive.

There are occasionally some deals and discounts for Center Parcs breaks. However, the savings are typically small at around £50 per lodge and often come with several caveats — so booking in advance remains the best approach.

Practical Tips

Here are some practical tips to consider when planning and booking a hen-do at Center Parcs:

  • Book as far in advance as possible: Weekend breaks fill up months ahead — don’t wait until the hen party is confirmed before checking availability.
  • Pre-book activities together: Coordinate with the group before the 12-week activity booking window opens so you’re not trying to get everyone to agree on the day.
  • Have the budget conversation early: Center Parcs is an expensive destination and not everyone will have the same appetite for spending on top of accommodation. Being upfront about expected costs before anyone commits avoids difficult conversations later.
  • Keep hen party elements low-key: The celebrations work best when they’re centred around the lodge — games, drinks, decorations — rather than in the pool, spa, or restaurants.
  • Consider timing carefully. Choosing when to book and when to visit can make a significant difference to the overall cost — midweek term time breaks in particular are considerably cheaper than weekends during school holidays.
