Center Parcs for Couples: Complete Guide

Center Parcs markets itself as a family destination, and it’s also a great choice for couples. Prior to having children, my wife Helen and I visited Center Parcs as a couple on multiple occasions. Most memorably, we used it for our UK honeymoon after getting married abroad in 2019.

The key to visiting Center Parcs as a couple is knowing what to expect. Center Parcs is not a romantic resort. It doesn’t have candlelit restaurants, adults-only pools or quiet corners reserved for couples.

What it does have is a beautiful forest, a world-class spa, a genuinely relaxing pace of life, and the kind of self-contained convenience that makes a short break genuinely easy to plan and enjoy.

Is Center Parcs Good for Couples?

The forest environment, the Aqua Sana Forest Spa and the option of having a hot tub or sauna as part of your lodge make Center Parcs a great choice for couples. The lodges are private, the activities are bookable for two, and a midweek term-time break is noticeably quieter and more relaxed than a school holiday visit.

That said, Center Parcs is predominantly family-oriented and that shows. The pool, the restaurants and the village centre can be busy with children, particularly at weekends and during school holidays. Evening entertainment is limited. Bars and restaurants tend to close early and there isn’t a great deal to do after 10pm.

How to Make the Most of Center Parcs as a Couple

Center Parcs is a family destination but there are ways to make your break feel noticeably more adult-oriented with a little planning.

  • Book later dinner slots: Families eat early so a 7.30pm or 8pm booking will feel noticeably quieter than a 6pm sitting.
  • Swim in the evening: The pool gets significantly quieter after 7pm when the slides close. Evening swimming has a much more relaxed feel.
  • Book a weekday afternoon spa session: The Aqua Sana Forest Spa is at its quietest from 3pm onwards on weekday afternoons.
  • Plan your arrival time carefully: Queues into the village peak in the hour after 4pm check-in. Arriving around 5.30–6pm often means a smoother start.
  • Make the most of departure day: Checkout is 10am but you can stay on site until midnight. That’s an extra half day of pool, activities and restaurants.
  • Invite friends or family for a day: Day visitor passes can be pre-booked at around £52 per adult at weekends, which is a good way to see people without disrupting your break.

Accommodation for Couples

Center Parcs charges per lodge rather than per person, which means couples pay the same as a family for the same accommodation. A two-bedroom Woodland Lodge at Whinfell Forest in term time typically starts from around £350 for a four-night midweek break, rising significantly during school holidays.

For a standard couples break, a Woodland Lodge works perfectly well. My wife Helen and I have stayed in them on our couples visits and they’re comfortable, private and the most cost-effective option for two.

Book a Forest Lodge with a hot tub for a special occasion, or a Woodland Lodge for a more straightforward couples break. The apartment option is underrated and worth considering if budget is a priority.

Activities for Couples

Almost every activity at Center Parcs is bookable for two and the car-free environment makes getting between activities easy and relaxed.

  • Aqua Sana Forest Spa: One of the best things Center Parcs offers as a couple. Up to 25 spa experiences across a three-hour session. Book as soon as the 12-week window opens as popular slots sell out quickly.
  • Cycling: One of the best ways to explore the village together. Hire bikes for the duration of your stay.
  • Electric boats and rowing boats: Among the most romantic activities on site. A silent electric boat cruise around the lake with forest on both sides is genuinely special. Book in advance.
  • Walking and wildlife spotting: Each village has distinct wildlife: red squirrels at Whinfell, Giant Redwoods at Longleat, Muntjac deer at Elveden.
  • The Subtropical Swimming Paradise: Included in every break. Visit after 7pm when the slides close for a noticeably more relaxed experience.
  • Watersports, archery, aerial trekking and golf: All work well for two if you want something more active.
  • Evening entertainment: Bars and restaurants close around 10–11pm. Whinfell has improved this in 2026 with Late Night Lanes and a Silent Disco, but the best couples evenings tend to be self-made.

Food & Dining for Couples

The food and dining options at Center Parcs work well for couples, but there are a few things to know in advance.

The restaurant range covers most tastes (American, Indian, Italian and British), though the specific lineup varies by village. A meal out for two will typically cost £30–£45 before drinks, with on-site drinks priced at resort rates.

For a special occasion dinner, book a restaurant table as soon as the 12-week booking window opens. Book a later slot if you can, around 7.30pm or 8pm, for a quieter and more relaxed experience. Popular restaurants fill up quickly, particularly at weekends.

A quieter, more intimate option is to use the Dining In delivery service and eat in the lodge, which works particularly well.

The ParcMarket is convenient but expensive. Stocking the lodge with food and drinks from a supermarket before you arrive is one of the most effective ways to manage costs.

Costs & Value for Couples

Center Parcs isn’t as cost-effective for two because you pay per lodge rather than per person. So if you book a lodge that can sleep four, you’ll pay the same whether there’s two of you in the lodge or four.

However, most couples have the advantage of being able to visit Center Parcs midweek during term time, which is both cheaper and quieter than weekends or school holidays.

Visiting midweek in term time is how my wife Helen and I were able to visit Center Parcs as a couple on a budget before having children, and the difference in atmosphere compared to a school holiday visit is significant.

If the Aqua Sana spa is a priority, a Spa Break package is worth considering. This includes accommodation in a Spa Suite with unlimited spa access and is designed specifically for couples, though it comes at a premium price.

Romantic Add-Ons, Special Occasions & Milestones

Center Parcs offers a small range of add-ons through the booking system that work well for special occasions, including welcome hampers, champagne and flower arrangements that can be pre-arranged to arrive in your lodge.

For proposals, Center Parcs guest services will help coordinate if you contact the village in advance. A private hot tub lodge in the forest is a genuinely lovely setting.

The Winter Wonderland period, running from late November to early January, is one of the best times to visit as a couple. The light installations, the cosy lodge atmosphere and the quieter midweek breaks during this period create a genuinely romantic setting that’s harder to find in summer.

Center Parcs also works well as a minimoon, a short UK break taken immediately after a wedding before a longer honeymoon later. The convenience, the forest setting and the spa make it a natural choice for couples who want to decompress after the wedding without the stress of international travel.

It’s also one of the better UK babymoon options. The Aqua Sana Forest Spa offers pregnancy-safe treatments, the car-free environment is gentle and unhurried, and being close to home removes any travel anxiety.

What to Bring as a Couple

Adding a few things to your packing list will make your break noticeably better:

  • Stock the lodge fridge before you arrive: Wine, good cheese, breakfast things and a couple of easy suppers make lodge evenings considerably more enjoyable than relying on the ParcMarket.
  • Bring a portable streaming device: Center Parcs has WiFi. So I suggest bringing a Firestick or similar to access your favourite shows and movies.
  • Pack a spare robe or slippers: The lodges don’t provide these and they make a real difference on a winter break.
  • Outdoor speakers for summer: A small set for the patio adds a lot to an evening outside.
  • Smokeless logs for winter: Worth bringing if your lodge has a fireplace. Check before you arrive as not all do.

Exploring Beyond Center Parcs

Center Parcs is designed to be entirely self-contained but if you want to venture out, then the location of your village opens up some genuinely good options.

  • Whinfell Forest sits on the edge of the Lake District, putting Ullswater, Windermere and Penrith within easy reach for a half-day out.
  • Longleat Forest is directly opposite Longleat Safari Park, which can be booked as an activity through Center Parcs at a discounted rate.
  • Sherwood Forest village is close to the actual Sherwood Forest Country Park, which is free to visit and worth a short trip for the famous Major Oak.
  • Elveden Forest is in rural Suffolk, close to the market town of Bury St Edmunds, which is worth a half-day visit for its cathedral, independent shops and restaurants.
  • Woburn Forest is well placed for Woburn Abbey and Woburn Safari Park, both within a short drive and good options for a half-day out.
